What is GPU Hardware Scheduling?
In general, Windows Display Driver Model GT Scheduler (WDDM), manages several processes that submit tasks to a GPU. To improve efficiency, each CPU will submit several commands at once.
Frame Buffering, also called buffering, improves performance through a better framerate. Once you press a button the CPU will submit the new batch to the GPU.
Some of the tasks your CPU handles to schedule the hardware-accelerated GPU Scheduling feature are passed to the GPU to reduce input lag.

Hardware scheduling may be worth considering if your computer has a lower or mid-tier processor. If you can achieve 100% load in some games, you should activate this feature.
Your decision is final. Microsoft claims you won’t notice any significant differences in-game. You might notice an improvement in your CPU heat and load.
How to enable GPU Hardware Scheduling
Since 2020, GPU Hardware Scheduling has become available. This means that you will require a brand new computer in order for it to work. Also, you must have a supported video card installed on your computer.
Hardware scheduling is not available on NVidia graphics cards at the time of writing. Keep an open mind!

How can you enable Hardware Scheduling under Windows Settings
Use these steps to enable GPU scheduling:
- Navigate to Option > System.
- Select Use to display from the left-hand menu.
- Select Graphics options in order to access the MultipleViews section.
- Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling is now available.
- Restart your computer.
The Registry Editor for Hardware Scheduling
To enable the option from Option, please use Register
Navigate To HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEM > SYSTEM> CurrentControlSet> Control> GraphicsDrivers
- Locate and open hwSchMode .
- You need to make sure the Basis has been set Hexadecimal.
- Set HTML2_ variables.
- To save changes, click OK
- Restart your computer.
Give GPU Scheduling a try
You might be able to use the GPU hardware acceleration function, even though this feature is not available to all Windows users. Or you can disable it in Windows 10 Settings.
