You could say Team Red is on its way towards processor dominance thanks to the AMD Ryzen 3000 CPUs. With their first-generation AMD Ryzen chips, they improved the market and with the 2nd-generation back to 2018, they were able to double Intel’s sales. Ryzen’s third generation was a huge success. Team Red was able to surpass all expectations.

The AMD Ryzen 3000 CPUs brought the 7 nanometer(nm), Zen 2 architecture to the mainstream. They did this with an affordable price tag that was accessible to the average buyer. The Ryzen9 3950X is now available. This CPU has 16-cores and 32 threads, making it possible to get a high-end computer without requiring a workstation. AMD also has processors that appeal to budget gamers, such as the Ryzen3100.

It’s not surprising that AMD Ryzen 3000 processors are so popular considering Intel’s issues with the 10nm Cannon Lake chip and the fact that it still has problems in 2021. The introduction of the AMD Ryzen 5500 chips and the Ryzen 5500 CPUs for laptops has made Team Red the preferred chipmaker for content creators, gamers, casual users, and others for many years to come.

This page will tell you everything you need about AMD Ryzen 3000. These older CPUs still have value in 2021, particularly since Ryzen 5000 stock remains limited. It should be simple to upgrade to Ryzen 5000 later on, as there are many modern motherboards that support it.

AMD Ryzen 3rd Generation specs

We now know what the new 7nm processors are capable of doing, thanks to the AMD Ryzen 3rd Generation lineup. Expect to see noticeable performance improvements and a drop in power consumption. There are many improvements.

AMD Ryzen 3rd Generation processors feature 7nm Zen 2 architecture. This allows AMD to reduce TDP to 65W in the Ryzen5 3600. The IPC (instructions-per-clock) performance is also significantly improved by 15%. It should result in some of the most powerful processors for gaming.

AMD’s Ryzen5 3600X takes performance of the Ryzen 5 2600X to a new level. It increases IPC (instructions-per-clock) performance and clock speed, while maintaining a low price.

The AMD Ryzen3 3300X is a mid-range gaming machine that can be purchased for a fraction of the price. It also has a lower-specced brother, the AMD Ryzen3 3100. The Ryzen 3 3300X has twice the amount of L3 cache than its predecessor, and is about 10-20% more efficient with its 8 cores, 4 threads, and 4.3GHz boost clock. The Ryzen 3 3100 has the same L3 cache as the Ryzen 3 3300X, and the same number cores and threads. It has a boost clock that is only 3.6GHz.

The Ryzen 9 3950X is the top-end processor. It has 16 cores, 32 threads, and a boost clock at 4.7GHz. These specs are amazing in themselves, but the real star is its 105W TDP.

The AMD 3900X is next to it. While it’s not quite as powerful as the 3950X, at least on paper, it still packs 12-cores with 24-threads high-performance power. It packs a lot of power, even at high temperatures, thanks to boost clocks as high as 4.6GHz. The Ryzen 9 3900X, at the same price, is 25%-40% faster than the Intel Core I9-9900K under multi-threaded loads.

The AMD Ryzen7 3700X has an 8-core, 16 thread, and a TDP just 65W. It’s a beast in multi-threaded workloads, just like the Ryzen 9 3900X.

The AMD Ryzen 9 3900X would be a lower-powered version the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X. It would have a similar relationship to the Ryzen 7 3700X and Ryzen 7 3700X. The core and thread count of the new Ryzen 9 3900X processors will be identical to their X counterparts. However, they will only have a 65W TDP.

AMD Ryzen 3rd Generation goes beyond the top-end and mid-range. According to a leak, AMD Ryzen 3rd Generation could include an AMD Ryzen 3 3100X and an AMD Ryzen 3 3300X. Both would be entry-level, 4-core, 8-thread 65W processors.

We listed all specifications of the Ryzen 3000 processors that we have confirmed below.

  • AMD Ryzen 9 3950X – 16-cores, 32-threads | 4.7GHz boost, 3.5GHz base | 105W
  • AMD Ryzen 9 3900X – 12-cores, 24-threads | 4.6GHz boost, 3.8GHz base | 105W
  • AMD Ryzen 7 3800X – 8-cores, 16-threads | 4.5GHz boost, 3.9GHz base | 105W
  • AMD Ryzen 7 3700X – 8-cores, 16-threads | 4.4GHz boost, 3.6GHz base | 65W
  • AMD Ryzen 5 3600X – 6-cores, 12-threads | 4.4GHz boost, 3.8GHz base | 95W
  • AMD Ryzen 5 3600 – 6-cores, 12-threads | 4.2GHz boost, 3.6GHz base | 65W
  • AMD Ryzen 3 3300X – 4-cores, 8-threads | 4.3GHz boost, 3.5GHz base | 65W
  • AMD Ryzen 5 3400G – 4-cores, 8-threads | 4.2GHz boost, 3.7GHz base | 65W
  • AMD Ryzen 3 3100 – 4-cores, 8-threads | 3.6GHz boost, 3.5GHz base | 65W

AMD Ryzen 3rd Generation delivers better performance at all levels and lower power consumption than the previous generation. AMD did boast some benchmarks that were better than the competition, but this is normal.

The X570 chipset is also a significant improvement in computing. The biggest advancement is not only the speed of the processors but also the support for PCIe 4.0 which is exclusive to AMD. AMD’s new PCIe generation brings faster graphics cards to the platform and SSDs. It offers SSD performance up to 51% faster, and graphics performance up to 69% faster – but that is only for AMD Navi graphics cards.

X570 supports four SuperSpeed USB ports with a maximum bandwidth up to 10Gbps. This support will be available for both USB-A as well as USB-C connections. While it is slower than Thunderbolt 3, native support should make desktop motherboards more popular.

Ryzen isn’t just about desktop components. Microsoft announced that HTML3 2019 will be its next-generation Xbox. It will use a custom SoC consisting of an AMD Navi GPU and a Zen 2 processor. Project Scarlett, which is expected to release in Holiday 2020, is rumored be four times faster than the Xbox One X and capable of running games at 120FPS and possibly 8K resolutions.
