Westinghouse TV Won’t Turn On

The problem with most Westinghouse TVs is the same: they won’t switch on.

This issue has been reported by many Westinghouse TV owners. Some say it’s been an ongoing issue for many years.

Resetting your Westinghouse TV can fix the problem. Wait 60 seconds before unplugging the TV. Wait 30 seconds after releasing the power button.

Unplug Westinghouse Television From Wall

This is an easy fix but it will turn your Westinghouse TV on.

Take at least 60 seconds. Give it a minute and then plug it in again

Unplug your TV and locate the power button on the Westinghouse television. For 30 seconds, hold the power button. Remember to use your remote control!

This will allow the TV to soft reset and turn off any remaining power.

Once the 60-second limit has passed, plug the TV into the power outlet. This should turn the TV back on.

About 80% of cases should be fixed by this method. It can be difficult to fix the remaining 20%.

Get batteries from Westinghouse remote

If your TV is still not working, remove the remote batteries.

Disconnect both batteries from the remote.

Remove the batteries and hold the power button for 30 second. This should take 30 seconds.

After the 30 seconds are up, you can plug in the batteries and turn on the TV again.

You might want to make sure you have enough batteries.

Factory reset will fix the problem permanently if you’ve tried all of the steps above to resolve your Westinghouse TV power problems.

To temporarily power the TV, unplug or remove the remote batteries. Next, click on the Home button.

Next, navigate to Settings > System > Advanced Setting > Factory Reset > Factory Reset Everything. This will display the initial setup screen on your TV.

Locate a new power outlet

It is possible, although it seems unlikely. If this is still not working, you can try plugging your Westinghouse TV into another outlet in your home.

Sometimes outlets could have a short circuit or a blown fuse. It is unclear what might be causing it.

Another small appliance could be purchased and plugged into the same outlet as your TV.

A device that turns on means an outlet is working.

Although it is unlikely that this is the cause, it is an important step in troubleshooting and should be done quickly to eliminate the suspect.

Backlight broken

It’s possible that the backlight on your Westinghouse TV has stopped working after all of the attempts.

First, turn on your TV. Then use a flashlight to check if it’s there.

Flash the light and you can see the screen.

Motherboard was fried

Your motherboard may have been damaged during a storm. Take off the back paneling of your Westinghouse TV to check.

Once you’ve done that, you’ll see multiple boards. On the left is the motherboard, while on the right is the power supply.

To make sure that your problem is not with your powerboard, plug in your TV to the wall and turn it on. Then disconnect the cable from the power board side connecting to the motherboard.

A dead TV means that the power board or motherboard is not working correctly.

It is easy to replace a motherboard. You should always verify the number on your board.
