If your Sony TV stops producing sound, you should reset it.
Unplug Sony Television From Wall
Although it is simple, this is the best way to restore your sound.
Allow at least 60 seconds for the plug to be reinserted.
Turn off your TV’s power source and locate the power button. Make sure you are holding the power button and not the remote.
This will turn off any power remaining and allow the TV’s soft reset.
You will hear the sound once you plug the TV back in.
The fix should work in approximately 80% of cases. It may not work in all cases.
Connect the power cord to your Sony TV
Unplug your power cable from the rear of your TV.
Unplug the device for approximately 60 seconds. Then plug it back in.
When you plug it in, make sure that the connection is secure. You must ensure the TV has stable power.
Connect the power cord and turn on your TV.

Software Update for Sony TV
Older versions can cause a lot of problems.
The most current version should be downloaded automatically by your TV. Sometimes, it does not.
Make sure your TV’s software is up-to-date.
After a software update, your video and audio settings may be reset to default.
It is possible that your TV may be turning itself on because of automatic software updates.
To disable automatic software updates,
- On your remote, press HOME
- Select SETTINGS
- Customer Support
- Scroll down and find AUTOMATIC FTWARE DOWNLOAD
- This can also be turned OFF
To resolve the problem, ensure that your software is current.
Sony TV Sound/Audio Settings Reset
You can also fix sound issues with your Sony TV by resetting all audio/sound settings
To open Menu, for example on a Sony Bravia Smart TV, press Menu. Scroll to Settings then Preferences.
Scroll down to Sounds and then click Reset.
This will reset your Sony TV’s factory default sound settings.

This factory reset restores your Sony TV’s settings to the date it was bought.
Turn on your TV and click the HOME/MENU button.
- Select ” Setting” from the menu
- Next, choose ” Reset ” and then select ” Save and Reset “.

- Final step: Select “Erase All”
- Restart your TV and verify that it is working.
Factory Repair Sony TV Without Remote
If you don’t have a remote control for any reason, you can factory reset your Sony TV.
This is done by finding the buttons on your TV. It depends on the model of your TV. They can be found on either the left or right side of your TV.
Unplug your Sony TV. Press the POWER button and the VOLUME button simultaneously until your TV is plugged in again.
You can see the Sony logo on the front of the TV. These buttons are easy to release.
The reset process can take several minutes but your TV will be back in action.

Sony TV Sound Settings
If nothing works, you can change the sound settings on your Sony TV.
Rename “Dolby Digital Plus” to “Dolby Digital”
Dolby digital plus output is the first setting we want to change.
Open Settings > Display and Audio > Audio Output. Add Dolby Digital to Dolbydigit.
Turn “Dolby Digital Plus out”
Next, connect your soundbar, stereo receiver, or Bluetooth adapter:
Use your Sony remote to change Stereo System to Settings/Options.
You can return to the Options/Options menu and then go to Audio Adjustments > Advanced Setting. Dolby Digital PLUS out must be turned off
Turn “HD-DOLBY OFF”
When you use a Cable Box, a streaming device such as Roku and Amazon Firestick turns HD-DOLBY OFF.
For example, on Firestick, go to Settings > Display & Sounds > Audio > Dolby Digital Output > Turn Dolbydigit Plus Off.
“Digital Audio Out” changed to PCM
Last note: You can convert Digital Audio Out to PCM if you have a Sony Bravia TV.
To do so, press the Home button on your Sony remote. Go to Settings > Preferences>>Setup >> Digital Audio Out. You can change this to PCM.

You can check online to see if your TV’s warranty has expired.
Sony TV warranties typically last only one year. The majority of TVs that can be turned on by themselves are older models.
