WiFi is a way to make and receive calls from your iPhone even if you don’t have cellular coverage.
What’s WiFi calling?
WiFi calling allows users to make and receive calls using their existing phone number over WiFi.
WiFi calling requires a connection to a WiFi network that can upload and download at least 2Mbps (megabits/second).
How do you enable WiFi calling on your iPhone?
To enable WiFi calling from your iPhone, open the Settings App. Next, open Phone Wi-Fi. Next, toggle the slider next WiFi Calling on This iPhone. Finally, tap Enable.

- Next tap the Phone. Scroll down the page until you find it.
- Next, select Wi-Fi Calling.
- Next, toggle the next Wi-Fi calling for This iPhone. When it turns green, it means that it’s enabled.
- Next click Enable in the popup messages. You might be asked to enter your address.
Major mobile operators have a law that requires that you enter an emergency number (or HTML911) to enable WiFi calling. This will allow emergency services to locate your location via WiFi calling.
Click Settings > Telephone > Wi-Fi Calls. Next, enter your street and apartment codes (optional), as well as city, state, and zip codes.
Make sure your iPhone is up-to-date before you enable WiFi calling. You should also check with your carrier to make sure that WiFi calling is supported. You can also connect to another WiFi network.

How to call WiFi
Enable WiFi Calling on your iPhone. Your call will switch between your cellular and WiFi networks when your signal drops.
You will know you’re using WiFi calling when you see “WiFi”, instead of “Mobile”, in the upper-left corner.
Your iPhone’s personal WiFi hotspot cannot be used to make calls over Wi-Fi. Next to Allow Other to Join, tap the slider.
WiFi calling free?
WiFi calling costs nothing for all major cellular operators, as long as you call the US. International calls will incur a charge.
