Enable or Disable Developer Options on Android Phone

A hidden menu? What’s that?

Android offers some hidden options known as Developer Options. These options provide additional functionality to Android. You can debug via USB, monitor the CPU usage on your computer, and disable animations. The Developer Options feature offers many more options. These features are hidden in the Developer Options. Until you enable Developer Options on your Android Phone, they won’t appear.

Why is there a hidden menu?

Android Phone Developer Options: Enable or disable

How do you enable/disable Developer Options on Android phones?. It’s very easy. Let me tell you how.

1. Android Developer Options: Enable

To enable Developer Mode in your phone,

  1. Settings > About Phone.
  2. Tap seven times on the build number. You may need to go to Settings to find the Software Information menu.
  3. After a few taps, you will see a count of the number of steps it takes to become a developer. This is how many taps you need to make in order to enable Developer Options.

Note: Most devices require your screen lock password, pattern or screen number to enable Developer Options. Some devices may not require these details.

  1. Once you’ve completed the above steps successfully, you will see a message indicating that your Android device has Developer Options. Either ” You’re a developer!”, or ” Developer Mode has been activated” will appear.

2. Android Developer Options can be disabled

You can disable Developer Options if you feel you don’t need them in your phone’s Settings. The Developer Options can be disabled or completely hidden. There are many ways to do this. To disable Developer Options, you can use any one of the following methods.

a. Toggling off the Developer Options

This method allows you to disable or turn off Developer Options. This does not remove the Developer Options from the Settings of your phone. For more information, click here

  1. Go to your phone’s Settings section.
  2. Click on the Developer Options button to open
  3. A toggle will appear to enable or disable the Developer Option.
  4. The toggle should be turned off

Great! Your Android Phone has now disabled Developer Options. You can turn the toggle back on if you want to enable Developer Options again.

b. Delete app data from the Settings app

You can also try this method if the previous one failed.

  1. Go to your phone’s Settings section.
  2. Scroll down to open “Apps”. (In some phones you may see the option as Applications or Application Manager).
  3. Select the option to filter all apps. Next, locate the Settings app.
  4. To open, tap on the icon.
  5. To clear your Settings app’s app data and cache data, tap on ” Clear data”. (On some devices, the Clear Data option can be found under the Storage option in your app settings. These screenshots illustrate the situation.

Done! You have successfully hidden the options. If the option is still visible in your Settings, reboot your phone. Developer Options will not be visible.

c. Factory Resetting of your phone

Factory Resetting your phone is a great way to remove the Developer Options from your phone’s Settings. The Factory version of your phone is reset, so the developer mode disappears. Before you do this reset, I recommend that you back up your data.

You can revert your phone back to factory mode by following these steps:

  1. Go to your phone’s Settings section.
  2. The General Management option is available.
  3. Choose Reset.
  4. Select “Factory Data Reset”.

You might need to:

  1. Go to your phone’s Settings section.
  2. Select Advances Setting and then Reset & Backup
  3. Make sure you’ve selected the option to back up your data.
  4. Select “Factory Data Reset”
  5. If you are asked for confirmation, please continue.

In OnePlus Devices,

  1. Your phone’s settings can be found in the Settings section.
  2. Select “System” and then choose Reset Option.
  3. There is the Erase All Data option.
  4. Continue with the factory reset options.

The process will take some time to complete. The Developer Options will not appear after you restart your device.
