These best 120Hz 4K TVs are great investments for gamers and movie buffs. The 4K resolution provides a lot of pixels for clearer images, and the 120Hz refresh rate makes games smoother. This can also mean that 24fps movies will play smoothly on the TV, without the ‘juddering’ that you get with cheaper TVs.

120Hz refresh rates provide a sharper, cleaner picture with less motion blur. While some players may not notice the difference, fast-paced shooters who need quick reflexes and frame pacing will appreciate the importance of refresh rates.

You’ll be amazed at the best gaming televisions that are 120Hz. While 120Hz TVs with HDMI 2.0 tend to be mid-range priced, we recommend it. Future-proofing your TV will make you happier for longer and allow you to purchase a new TV every year.

The good news? 120Hz refresh rates will be common in 2022. These are available on many gaming console s. They’re perfect for smooth HD and QHD gaming. However, you will need to ensure that the 4K TV has a 120Hz panel as well as HDMI 2.0 input support.

Some TVs now support 144Hz refresh rates. We have included them in this guide because they are compatible with 120Hz. We don’t think this is an important upgrade to 120Hz. However, we have a guide to why 144Hz TVs are so important. But it is available for those PC gamers who really want it.

Are you unsure where to begin? Below is a list listing all the HDMI 2.1 TVs that we recommend for 2022. Some of these picks may get better with time, but they should all be great straight out of the box when connected to your consoles.

+Beautiful 4K HDR image+Four HDMI 2.0 ports+Dolby Vision @120Hz

-Reflective Glass Surface-Not the Brightest

The LG C1 OLED is our top choice of all the best TVs or OLED TVs. It’s an all-round powerhouse and offers almost all the gaming features that you need to have the best next-gen performance. And it’s very affordable, despite the high specifications.

All four HDMI ports on this TV are compatible with 2.1. Other than LG TVs most manufacturers have not added HDMI 2.1 to one port through firmware updates. The LG C1 OLED allows you to plug in the Series X as well as the PS5 to a dedicated 2.1 port.

The Game Optimizer setting allows you to adjust White Stabilizer, Black Stabilizer, and VRR quickly. It’s made for people who want to know that they are getting the best performance.

AllM support is available when the TV detects an inbound game signal through any of the four HDMI 2.0 ports. There’s also a Prevent input delay feature that reduces input latency to below 10ms.

Even if you aren’t gaming, the LG C1 OLED will be a great choice for streaming premium content. OLED displays are better at handling dark blacks and contrast between light content than LED TVs. This model also has full 4:4 to4 PC color. We found the only issues with the OLED TV were its lack of HDR10+ support, and its inability to display full 4:4:4 PC color. However, as long as the blinds are open, it shouldn’t pose any problems.

There are many reasons to buy

+Best-in-class image quality+’Perfect for PS5′ features

Avoidable reasons

-Slight screen glare

This TV is great for PS5 owners. Last year’s Sony TV range had issues with HDMI 2.1 support. This year’s range supports HDMI 2.1 perfectly. There are two HDMI ports that allow you to connect next-gen consoles.

Two other HDMI 2.0 ports are available for lower-specified consoles, such as the Nintendo Switch. While some TVs have four ports at a 2.1 specification (some gaming TVs), most will work with the X90J. You won’t be able to enjoy the benefits of the HDMI 2.1 ports if you don’t switch on enhanced format in the picture settings.

The X90J’s excellent image quality is due to the cognitive XR processor, which Sony added to its top 2021 sets. This processor delivers outstanding upscaling, contrast control, and image quality. Google TV Smart Platform is also available on the X90J. It has easy setup, broad app support and the ability to Google Cast directly from Android devices. Dolby Atmos and DolbyVision HDR audio are included too. However, we were disappointed to find that DolbyVision at 120Hz is not supported.

This TV is the most affordable in Sony’s Perfect for PlayStation 5 range. It supports the PS5’s ‘Auto HDR Tones Mapping’ feature, which allows the console to output HDR to match the TV’s light and dark capabilities. In theory, this means you will get slightly better pictures than a comparable screen without it.

During our testing we encountered some issues, such as off-axis viewing problems and difficulties with direct sunlight. Despite these issues, the Sony X90J delivers stellar performance. With its replacement coming soon from Sony’s 2022 range of products, its price drop makes it an incredible value – especially at larger sizes where it is cheaper than direct competitors.

There are many reasons to buy

+Brighter than anything+Excellent gaming features

Avoidable reasons

-No Dolby Vision -Local dimming is allowed to be aggressive

Samsung QN95B, the company’s flagship 4K TV for 2020, features a MiniLED backlight Samsung calls ‘Neo QLED. Although it is a bit more expensive than other models on this list, it can still be a good choice for a HDMI 2.1 TV.

You’ll be pleased with the next-gen console’s gaming features. The SlimOneConnect box ships with the QN95B.

Four HDMI inputs are housed in the box. One of them (HDMI 3), supports and eARC. Each of the HDMI inputs can handle up to 40Gbps. This means that they can take 4K/120Hz and VRR as well as ALLM. Although they are not fully HDMI 2.0 connected, they provide sufficient bandwidth making this TV an excellent choice for next-generation gamers who want to make the most of their new console.

The stunning SDR and images were amazing. They deliver rich blacks and brighter highlights, without any blooming or loss in shadow detail. Quantum dot technology is used to deliver saturated and nuanced colors, which are very similar to OLED. This TV is bright enough to be used in areas with lots of sunlight. We also found it ideal for gamers who play during the day. The 120Hz has the OTS+ audio system, which allows you to get multi-channel sound from your games.

Avoidable reasons

-Audio quality could have been better -Can’t handle black tones as well OLED

Hisense has proven its ability to produce premium-quality television sets such as the U80G and U8G. The U7G is in a unique position among its siblings, despite having fewer features than the other sets. Hisense describes the U7G as “TV that makes gaming smooth and easy like butter”. It focuses on improving gamers’ experiences in meaningful ways.

It features a 120Hz high display, Game Mode Pro to reduce input lag, and an Auto Low Latency Mode. Variable Refresh Rate is compatible with the PS5 as well as FreeSync for PC/Xbox gamers. These features will be of great benefit to serious gamers or aspiring esports athletes who want the best possible advantage. The U7G also features many of the same standards as Hisense’s U Series line up, including Dolby Vision and IQ, alongside HDR10+ – in our tests, the brightness and overall quality were excellent for the price.

The end of the story? The U7G’s capabilities will be appreciated by PC Gamers and individuals who are able to obtain an Xbox Series or PlayStation5.

The TV is a wonderful TV that can be used for any purpose, including gaming. This TV’s great Android TV implementation combined with a beautiful display makes it a great TV. This TV shines as a gaming TV.

There are many reasons to buy

+Unbeatable gaming features +Stunning picture with brighter OLED panels

Avoidable reasons

-…But 42-inch and 48-inch models have a brighter panel.

The LG C2 is the newest in LG’s lineup of crowd-pleasing OLEDs and the successor to the LG C1. As you would expect, it is better than the LG C1… however, it is also more expensive. This is why the C1 remains our top pick while stocks last.

However, the LG C2 has one important feature: It is a 42-inch model. This makes it the smallest 120Hz TV in this category. It’s the perfect size for gamers who need the most tech in a small space. You get four HDMI 2.1 ports in any size, including support for 4K 120Hz and VRR (including FreeSync or G-Sync), as well as all the necessary tech for ALLM.

All models above 55 inches have a brighter OLED panel. This means that you can get better HDR performance than the LG C1. A newer image processor subtly enhances detail and texture in images. We were impressed by the color saturation and subtle nuance of dark scenes, which we called “one the best OLED panels that we have ever seen”. We did notice that the panels of the 48-inch and 42-inch models do not have the same outstanding image quality. This is not a problem for us, but it could be for you if your preference is to play in daylight.

The LG C2 OLED TV is a great choice. However, it comes at a high cost. We think most people would rather get the LG C1 and use the money to buy a soundbar.

There are many reasons to buy

+Deep blacks with impressive brightness+Accurate box color (Cinema Mode)+Strong suite HDMI 2.1 gaming features

Avoidable reasons

-Brightness is a notch lower than the OLED TVs.

The mid-range OLED from Sony packs a powerful punch. It has excellent HDR, colour saturation, and deep blacks that only OLED can provide. Despite its low price, it performs well with the usual Sony alphabet soup: XR OLED Contrast PRO, XR TriluminosPro and Cognitive Processor XR. The panel’s motion processing and upscaling are superb. It’s also bright enough to be used in daylight and in darkened rooms.

There are two HDMI 2.1 ports that support 120Hz video with variable refresh rate (VRR), auto low latency mode, and Auto HDR tone mapping for PS5 gaming. The US has an ATSC 3.0 tuner built-in, ready to broadcast next-generation digital TV.

This Sony is a great option for buyers who desire the rich contrast of OLED TVs but don’t want top-dollar. It’s significantly less expensive than the A90K or A95K models, but it delivers an engaging and captivating picture regardless of whether you are streaming or gaming.

7. Samsung QN85B (55QN85B)

There are many reasons to buy

+Slim, elegant design+Bright, vibrant images+Great gaming support

Avoidable reasons

Black-tone detail is difficult to achieve -No Dolby Vision HDR Smart TV changes are for the worse

Mini-LED technology is used in this Samsung TV. This gives you the same high brightness as traditional LED TVs but with more control and contrast. Although it isn’t OLED-quality, it is very close. The TV’s vivid preset will likely give you a golden glow. You can turn it down and adjust the settings to get a more pleasant experience that won’t damage your eyes. It is extremely detailed and great for gaming.

It’s quite good for flat screens too. Six speaker drivers from the QN85B, together with Object Tracking Sound technology, and Q Symphony compatibility all indicate a TV that has been more attentive to its audio performance than the norm. Although it isn’t very bassy, as always, we recommend an AV receiver or soundbar. However, it’s still better than many competitors.

Although we aren’t big fans of Samsung’s new smart TV interface, it does include Samsung TV Plus, which offers a selection of free streaming channels. It’s also easy to use, although it isn’t as intuitive as it was before.

This device is great for gaming due to its HDMI 2.1 support across all four HDMI inputs. It also supports 4K 120Hz, ALLM and FreeSync Premium Pro. However, Dolby Vision support is not available.

This TV’s main focus is on the mini-LED panel. It packs a punch that OLED display can’t match. It’s actually too bright by default. However, it makes it a great TV for daytime viewing such sporting events.
