What do the Half Moon’s Different Colors Mean?
You can see the crescent moon icon in two colors. It can be either blue or gray.
- The blue crescent moon icon indicates that the recipient has not opened or read your messages.
- An icon of a gray crescent moon signifies that the recipient has read and opened your messages.
What is the point of enabling do not disturb?
Do you get new messages all the time? Are you looking for quiet, without constant notifications? Do you belong to a group that bombards you with notifications that cause you to lose your mind?
These are all reasons to silence your text messages. You can enable the Do Not Disturb and Hide Alarms features.
How can you enable the half moon?
For iPhones that have received iOS 11 updates earlier than iOS 11.
Click on the ” ” button in the upper right corner of the iPhone screen. This will bring up the Details screen. Slide the Do Not Disturb or Hide Alerts options to turn it on. It will then be highlighted in green.
For iPhones with iOS 11 Updates
Click on ” I” in the upper right corner. In some versions, click on the avatar of the contact. Move the slider to activate Hide alerts.
Swipe left and click the bell
Simply swipe left on the conversation you want to put on your iPhone. To mute the conversation, click on the bell.
How to get rid of the Half Moon on iPhone Text Message
It’s easy to remove the half moon from your iPhone text message.
iPhones that have received iOS 11 updates earlier than iOS 11
Choose the conversation that has a crescent-moon icon you wish to delete. Click on the enclosed within a circle, or the Details button. You’ll see an option to turn off the Do Not Disturb and Hide Alerts.
For iPhones with iOS 11 Updates
You can follow the same steps as above. You might need to click on the avatar of the contact instead of the “i”, or “details” buttons. Hide Alerts will be displayed instead of Do Not Disturb.
To turn off the Hide Alarms option, slide the option. The alerts will still be on if the slider is grayed out. If the slider is highlighted in gray, it means that they are still on.
Swipe left and click the bell
Alternatively, instead of opening a message, swipe left on the conversation to tap Show Alerts or the bell icon.
What is the difference between hiding Alerts & Do Not Disturb
They are the same. They both perform the same function. In subsequent iOS updates, Do Not Disturb was renamed Hide Alarms. This feature can now be enabled or disabled with the iOS updates.
Don’t be confused with The Moon on The Status Bar
You’ve activated the Do Not Disturb feature by displaying the half moon symbol in the status bar. This is different because it applies to your entire iPhone, not just to a text message conversation. You will not be notified or receive any alerts in this mode.
