Although ghost touch can sometimes mean that your iPhone must be taken to Apple for repairs, there are several quick fixes you can perform without spending any money.

How is Ghost Touch affecting iPhones?

Ghost touch issues are most common with iPhone X. Apple stated in November 2018 that it had found issues with iPhone X’s touchscreen and offered free repairs.

There have been numerous reports and online complaints about the iPhone ghost touch issue. Sometimes, an iPhone can be affected by “ghost touch”.

It doesn’t matter which model of iPhone you have, these steps will fix ghost touch.

1. Clear the Touchscreen

While it might seem easy, cleaning your iPhone’s touch screen can help protect you from ghost touch.

Turn off your iPhone, then unplug any cables. Next, gently wipe the touchscreen clean using a soft cloth.

Avoid getting moisture in your openings while wiping.

Apple recommends that you not use household cleaners or window cleaners on your iPhone.

2. Remove your screen protector

Screen protectors, which are thin layers of plastic or glass made from either glass or plastic, can be attached to the iPhone’s touch screen to prevent cracking or scratching. To fix ghost touch issues,

Take your iPhone’s screen protector off very carefully. If the protector is damaged or cracked, take it to an Apple authorised repair shop.

It’s worth calling the manufacturer to remove your screen protector. If your iPhone has ghost touch issues, they may be able to refund you.

3. Take out your iPhone’s case

An iPhone with a bent screen can cause ghost touch. You might be able to fix the problem by taking off any hard cases.

  2. Scroll down to the right, and slide the power off slider.
  3. Close the browser and press the Side Button to see the Apple logo.

These steps will enable you to reboot your iPhone by pressing the Home button.

  1. To turn off the slider, press the Side or Top button.
  2. Scroll down to the right, and slide the power off slider.
  3. Close the browser and press the Side or Top button until the Apple logo appears.

5. Force restart your iPhone

You have the option to force restart your iPhone. For iPhones that are not working properly, force restarts can be used.

Force restart your iPhone 8 or older using the following:

  1. Quickly release the Volume Down button
  2. Quickly release the Volume Down button
  3. Hold down the Side Button.
  4. Release the Side button when the Apple logo appears.

These steps will cause an iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 7 Plus, or iPhone 7 Plus restart:

  1. Hold down the Volume Down button, and the Wake/Sleep buttons.
  2. The buttons will be released as soon as the Apple logo appears.

These steps will force your iPhone 6 Plus or 6 Plus to restart.

  1. Hold down the Wake/Sleep key and the Home key.
  2. Release both buttons when the Apple logo appears.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select General.
  3. Click Software Update.
  4. Click Download and Install or Instruction, if you already have the update.

If your iPhone’s ghost touch problem doesn’t resolve with software updates or restarts, it’s time to perform a factory restore. All of your data will be erased.

These steps will allow you to reset your iPhone.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select General.
  3. Scroll down and tap Reset.
  4. To Delete All Contents and Settings , click
  5. Tap Continue to enter your iPhone passcode.

Perform the factory reset again. You may also choose to restore your iPhone from a back-up.

8. Recover your iPhone

You may be unable to force restart your iPhone if it is not able to do so. If your iPhone can update or reset its settings normally, it will be easier.

To restart an iPhone, put it in Recovery Mode. Then connect it to a Mac with iTunes or macOS.

Your computer will display a message that says, “There is a problem with your iPhone.” It must be updated or repaired. Click on Update to see if it’s available, or Repair.

Note: Your iPhone’s data will be lost when you restore it from Recovery Mode.

If you are having trouble with the Recovery Mode, you can use DFU mode to repair your iPhone.
