WhatsApp has many new features, including disappearing messages and a refreshed look. Users have been curious about what else might be coming from the company.
They did not have to wait long as a beta version for a native app in the Microsoft Store was released (opens new tab) for Windows 10 and Windows 11.
It’s easy to try the app right now, and you can decide if you prefer WhatsApp on your tablet or laptop. The app offers many features that you will most likely use every day on your smartphone, so it may be worth keeping the app.
The question is whether you need a dedicated app for Windows, or if your phone can be used on the web to access WhatsApp.

This is evident in the app that was tested. It has handwriting features, notifications that work with Windows 10/11, and Focus assist.
Many apps are coming to the Microsoft Store. Amazon is also bringing Android apps to it.
This could prove very useful if you use WhatsApp a lot. You can save your phone and reply to messages through your laptop.
But, it will take time to see if users feel more at ease using apps on their desktops than via a web browser or through their phones.
