What’s The Best Largest Tablet? [2022 Shootout]

Popular Posts

I evaluated 12 large tablets and rated them based on their quality, performance, and cost-effectiveness. The Apple iPad Pro was the one that stood out in nearly every department.

The iPad Pro features Apple’s M1 chip which is the fastest processor available on tablets. This makes it more powerful than many mid-range laptops. The iPad Pro also comes with an optional Magic Keyboard, a 2-in-1 tablet.

The Lenovo P11 Plus is a great budget option. This tablet is a great all-rounder large tablet.

You can read reviews and look for more options.

Let’s get started!

6 Large Screen Tablets That Are the Best Reviewed

1. Apple iPad Pro (M1) 12.9-inch

Key Features:

  • Apple M1 8 Core CPU
  • ProMotion 12.9-inch Liquid Retina XDR display
  • 2732×2048 resolution (264PPI) with 10,000 micro-LEDs
  • 8/16GB RAM
  • 12MP TrueDepth camera with LiDAR scanner

The iPad Pro (M1) tablet is Apple’s best-selling tablet. Even if you are not an Apple fan, the iPad Pro’s incredible power, and aesthetic appeal are unmistakable. The iPad Pro is available in two sizes: the 12.9-inch and 11-inch versions. I prefer the 12.9-inch version due to its better display and longer battery life.

The invention of silicon by Apple was a breakthrough in mobile processing. The iPad Pro features an Octa-core processor which can give laptops a hard time – four x 2.5GHz Vortex cores and four x 1.59GHz Tempest cores.

This device is light years ahead of its competition when it’s paired with the iPadOS up to 16GB RAM and a USB–C Thunderbolt 4 port.

The mini-LED display is brighter, crisper, and more vibrant than ever. This is the ultimate creative professional tool. It features a 1000nits peak brightness, and the buttery-smooth PROMotion tech.

You’ll find all the high-end goodness that you would expect from an Apple flagship product: Premium quad speakers and Face ID, Apple Pay, seamless Apple Pencil, and seamless Apple Pencil.

The tablet is well-equipped in terms of a camera, which isn’t a strength for tablets. This tablet camera has a 10MP camera and a 12MP ultra-wide one. A liDAR scanner is also included. up 4K at 24FPS video record.

PROS

  • All-metal design that is elegant and durable
  • The M1 chip has more power than any power-user could ever want
  • Bright, vivid display
  • Superb camera quality for a tablet

CONS

  • It’s very expensive if you add Apple’s Magic Keyboard & Pencil.
  • No headphone jack

Level performance. Brilliant Liquid Retina XDR display (12.9 inches) with ProMotion and True Tone.

2. Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ processor
  • 12.4-inch Super AMOLED screen with HDR 10+
  • 2800×1752 resolution (266 Pipi) at 120Hz
  • 6/8 GB RAM
  • 13MP + 5MP Primary Camera and 8MP Front Camera

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ is the ideal large Android tablet for you if you are looking for something more.

The S7 was an excellent successor to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 and the S7+ elevates the experience with its larger Super AMOLED display.

The 120Hz AMOLED display offers a visual experience that is unmatched by any tablet on the market (yes, even better than the iPad Pro). The perfect balance of entertainment and productivity is achieved with the 16:10 aspect ratio.

The specifications are high-end. Snapdragon 865+ 6GB LPDDR5 Ram, USB-C port and in-display fingerprint sensor. Samsung deserves praise for including the S Pen stylus in the box.

The 10,090mAh battery provides 10-12 hours of video playback. Combine that with 45W quick charging and you have a reliable tool for daily use.

The Samsung DeX is my favorite feature. This basically turns your Android UI into a Windows-like interface. You can now multitask with the windowed version.

If you want the best Android tablet experience and the best screen, then the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ is a must-have.

PROS

  • Super-AMOLED screen with the best quality
  • Super-fast charging and great battery life
  • The hardware of the highest quality
  • Samsung DeX

CONS

  • There are not many high-quality apps available for Android tablets
  • There are cheaper alternatives, but you will have to compromise on display quality.
  • No headphone jack

3. Microsoft Surface Pro 8

Key Features:

  • Intel Evo Core i5/i7 processor w/ Intel Iris Xe Graphics
  • 13 inch PixelSense Flow Display
  • 2880×20 (267 PPI), up to 120Hz refresh rate
  • 8/16/32GB RAM
  • 10MP Primary Camera and 5MP Front Camera

The Microsoft Surface Pro 8 is the best Windows tablet currently on the market.

Microsoft’s Surface line is different from most Android or Apple tablets. With its unique laptop-cum-tablet design, it caters to the 2-in-1 market.

The Surface Pro 8 features 11th Generation Intel chips. This device is far more productive than any Android or iPadOS tablet. It also features Windows 11 out-of-the box.

You’re likely to recognize some features from your Surface devices like the Surface Connect port and Windows Hello sign in. There are also integrated Office 365 and OneDrive cloud storage.

Apart from that, there are obvious advantages over Samsungs and iPads with Dual Thunderbolt4 ports aswell as a 3.5mm headphone Jack.

Surface Pro 8 has a larger screen than previous versions. It features a 13 inch panel with a 120Hz refresh speed, Dolby Vision and Adaptive Colour Technology. This tablet is great for editing photos and watching videos.

All this comes with a premium. While the base model is about the same as the Apple iPad Pro’s, the iPad Pro’s higher-spec models are much more affordable.

PROS

  • Pure Windows 11 experience outside-the-box
  • Robust 2-in-1 form factor
  • Amazing screen
  • Dual Thunderbolt 4 ports

CONS

  • Very expensive
  • Accessories sold separately

Word, Excel, PowerPoint are all you will need. Microsoft 365 is also recommended.

4. Lenovo Tab P11 Plus

Key Features:

  • MediaTek G90T SoC
  • 11-inch 2KIPS Display
  • 2000 x 1200 resolution (213% PPI) at 60Hz
  • RAM 4/6GB
  • 13MP Primary Camera and 8MP Front Camera

We’ve found the best large Android tablet that fits within a budget, despite the competitive price range of $200 to $400.

Although the Lenovo Tab P11 Plus is a very affordable tablet, it’s not cheap.

The P11 Plus has an aluminum body and keyboard/pen support, which is rare for budget Android tablets. However, Lenovo has done a great job of including both in the P11 Plus. It’s lightweight at 7.5mm and less than 500g, making it super-portable with its strong 7,700mAh battery .

The 11-inch display supports 2K resolution and is 400 nits brighter than other displays.

You don’t need to be concerned about the performance. The tablet’s Octa-core MediaTek G90T SOC is paired with up 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage (external microSD cards supported). The P11 Plus is capable of multitasking, gaming and enjoying multimedia.

Other favorite features include Dolby atmos quad-speakers and 20W fast charging.

The camera is capable of Zoom calls on the move, so don’t expect much. With moderate usage, you can expect 7-8h battery life

The Lenovo Tab P11 Plus is my top recommendation if you are looking for a large tablet that’s low-cost and high-value.

PROS

  • Excellent performance at a great price
  • Bright, sharp 2K display
  • Quad Dolby Atmos speakers
  • Battery life is excellent

CONS

  • Limit of 60Hz
  • Future Android updates are not guaranteed
  • Camera quality is not the best

5. Apple iPad Air 10.9 inches

Budget iPad Pick

Key Features:

  • Apple A14 Bionic Chip
  • 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display
  • 2732×2048 resolution (264PPI) with 10,000 micro-LEDs
  • 4GB RAM
  • TrueDepth 12MP Camera with LiDAR scanner

The iPad Air is essentially an iPad Pro at a lower price. You can take the iPad Pro and reduce the power-user features to get the best non-Pro Apple tablet.

Although the new six-core A14 Bionic won’t be able to compete with the M1 chip, its performance is still impressive in real-life situations as well. It’s also efficient, with a 10-hour battery life for typical usage.

Its screen is 10.9 inches, which makes it a large tablet. It’s great for content creation and binge-watching thanks to the Liquid Retina technology.

The iPad Air supports Gen2 Apple Pencil and MagicKeyboard, which is a major upgrade to previous generations. This is a bonus in productivity.

If you don’t need the extras of the iPad Pro, the Apple iPad Air is a great alternative.

PROS

  • Design aesthetics with thin bezels
  • The A14 Bionic chip continues to be a remarkable performer
  • Loud, rich speakers
  • Battery life is amazing

CONS

  • No 3.5mm headphone jack
  • The accessory can be costly

Retina Display with True Tone, P3 Wide Color; A14 Bionic Chip with Neural Engine

6. Amazon Fire HD 10 Plus

Key Features:

  • Mediatek Helio P60T Octa-core processor
  • Display: 10.1-inch IPS LCD
  • 1920 x 1200 resolution (224 Pipi) at 60Hz
  • 4GB RAM
  • 7MP Primary Camera and 5MP Front Camera

The Fire tablets are the best choice when it comes to large tablets for children. This latest version has enhanced connectivity and productivity.

The Fire HD 10 and HD 10 Plus are available, but the HD 10 Plus offers more RAM and wireless charging support at $30 less, making it a worthwhile upgrade.

The Fire tablets are, in my opinion, a better choice than the Chromebook tablets and other $100 devices. This is simply because Amazon does a better job of supporting their Fire tablets with software.

The screen is 10.1 inches. The IPS panel has full HD resolution making it crisp. The dual speakers sound amazing. It is a great device for media consumption at a low price.

The battery life is also excellent – it lasts for over 10-12 hours of normal usage.

You can only select a few apps on any tablet equipped with Amazon Fire OS. We assume that pre-teens and kids won’t require more than Amazon’s existing ecosystem.

PROS

  • Excellent performance at a great price
  • Speakers can be loud
  • USB-C port
  • Wireless charging (with the Plus model)

CONS

  • App selection limited
  • Quality of plastic construction

Also includes an on/off toggle.

Buyer’s Guide: How to Choose the Best Large Tablet

A tablet is more than a smartphone. It’s now a versatile device that can be used for everything from binging to online classes and professional work.

This change brings with it an infinite number of products that can be tailored to different budgets and needs. This makes tablet shopping even more difficult for you and me.

Here’s a checklist I created to help you get the best tablet price. These are the top considerations when buying large tablets.

Primary Use

You should first consider the primary purpose of your tablet.

Spending $1000 on the Pro nomenclature if you’re just streaming Netflix at home is not a smart decision. The iPad Air is cheaper than the iPad Plus, or even the more affordable Lenovo Tab P11 Plus.

The Surface Pro or the iPad Pro may be more suitable if you require a tablet that doubles as a laptop. These tablets have plenty of power and can also be paired with a keyboard.

A standalone tablet will save you a lot of money if you use it for media consumption, browsing the internet, reading news and editing documents. Although you won’t have the option to attach a keyboard, you can use a Bluetooth keyboard in case of emergency.

You can still use your tablet as a replacement for your laptop by purchasing a 2-in-1 or detachable tablet.
