Recently, we heard that the Samsung Galaxy S23 U would look almost identical to the Samsung Galaxy S22 U. It also has similar specifications and dimensions. The source of this claim now has more details about the design, which points to both similarities as well as differences.
@UniverseIce (opens new tab): The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has been “100% confirmed” that it features the exact same camera design and specifications as the Galaxy S22 Ultra.
This is something we would naturally take with a grain of salt. However, they seem to be very certain of it. It could mean that Samsung’s floating lenses design will continue for at least one more year.

One thing they did notice was that the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra’s design might be different. It’s the shape of the S23 Ultra’s top and bottom edges, or “fuselage”, as they call them. They are less curvy.

This could result in a more squatted appearance.
This will be, however, the “biggest visual difference” between the S22 Ultra Ultra and S23 Ultra. If @UniverseIce is correct, the two phones will look very similar.
Now it’s time for you to put your imagination to the test. The S23 Ultra’s biggest difference is the change in the curvature and shape of the fuselage. From the top, it looks like this. It looks like this from the top. pic.twitter.com/2BNRbxd6laAugust 25, 2022
Analysis: keeping the camera design makes sense
Samsung changed this camera design only with the Galaxy S22 Ultra. It would be logical to keep it around at least one year.
The rest of the design does not need to be updated every year and was mostly new for the S22 Ultra. It’s reasonable and plausible that very little visual content would change for the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.
However, this doesn’t mean that things won’t change under the hood. A leak from the same source indicated that the screen and battery would be the same. However, the chipset will likely be upgraded. Using the same camera design doesn’t necessarily mean using the same sensors and lenses. has been rumored to have a 200MP camera.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is expected to be revealed in 2023. We will likely find out. We’d be shocked if it didn’t rank among the top Samsung phones.
