Popular Posts

The Motorola Razr 2022 will be unveiled today (August 2) but we know quite a bit about this flexible mobile thanks to a series teases. You can read more about it below.

This is an opportunity to reinvent Moto’s foldable phones. The brand needs it. While the Motorola Razr 2019 was an interesting first attempt, it had some flaws that the company needs to correct if it wants to make a hugely successful folding phone.

Motorola skipped a full year of its pattern without a Razr 2021. This has allowed Motorola to spend more time creating the best foldable possible. Leaks also suggest that it will have some very impressive specs.

We now know Motorola’s third-generation Razr phone is nearly ready for launch. However, it faces stiff competition from the Samsung Galaxy Z flip 3 and Galaxy Z flip 4. Both are slated to launch in August 2022. There’s also the iPhone Flip which could be waiting.

This phone is now called the Motorola Razr 20,22. We originally named it the Razr 2021 but that name never came back. Many of our wishes, which can be found below, remain the same. Motorola’s two first foldables were both interesting, but flawed. There’s still a lot to do.

Below, we’ve included information about when and how much the Motorola Razr 2022 will be available. We’ll keep you updated with any new rumors and news.

The Motorola Razr is on its way, and a launch date of August 2 (at the time of writing) has been set. However, screen, camera, and battery details for the Motorola Razr 2022 are now either leaked or confirmed.

Let’s get to the point

The cost of It could be around $1,399 / PlayStation1,399 (roughly AU$1,900).

Despite initial talk it would be arriving in China in July. Motorola announced on July 22 that it will launch the Razr 2022 in China on August 2. This is alongside the Moto X30 Pro which is the first smartphone to have a 200MP sensor.

Launches at 7:30am ET/ 4:30 am PST/ 12:30 pm BST/ 9:30 pm AEST. There will be a live stream but it will be hosted on the Weibo mobile app. It will be in Chinese so we recommend that you check back here after the launch to see all details in English.

The Motorola Razr 2020 was first announced on September 9, 2020 and went on sale on September 15, 2020. The Motorola Razr 2019 wasn’t released until February 2020. It was, however , announced in November 2019.

Motorola does not have a regular release schedule for the range. It’s difficult to predict when the Motorola Razr2022 will be available on the market. This is especially true considering that the August 2nd event is only in China, and the possibility of the foldable appearing in other international markets is unknown.

It will be priced at EUR1,149, which is around $1,205 / PlayStation980 / AU$1,725. This is less than the Motorola Razr 2020 which cost EUR1,399 / £1,399 / PlayStation1,399 (around AU$1,900). Given that Motorola uses the same numerical pricing in Europe as the US, this could indicate that the Razr 2022 may cost $1,149 / PlayStation1,149.

Motorola Razr 2022 leaks & rumors

Motorola has confirmed a few specs for the Razr 2022, including a high-end Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset and a 50MP primary camera with “flagship imagery hardware.”

The company also shared images of the phone. shows the main display and lacks the large chin of the older model. shows the dual-lens camera at the back.

A Chinese certification agency has shared additional specs, such as a 6.67-inch OLED main display measuring 1080×2400 pixels and a 2.65 inch 573×800 OLED secondary display measuring 273×800 pixels.

There will be a variety of configurations for the phone, including 8GB, 12GB, 18GB or 18GB RAM and 128GB 256GB or512GB storage. The colors include black, white and blue as well as red, gold, silver, red and yellow. The Razr 2022 has dimensions of 166.99×79.79×7.62mm and a weight of 200g.

The listing also mentions a capacity of 3,320mAh. This is somewhat inconsistent with the claim of a Motorola executive on Webo that the phone will contain a 3,500mAh battery. However, it is possible that one is the rated capacity while the other is the average capacity.

leaked to a phone redesign with a smaller notch and a 50MP main camera, 32MP front-facer, and a 13MP ultra wide screen. It also has up to 512GB storage and a 120Hz AMOLED display.

This is something we would take with a grain of salt, as the source also stated that the battery’s capacity was 2,800mAh. However, this now seems to be incorrect.

Comments A Lenovo executive Chen Jin suggests that the Motorola Razr3 could get an increase in internal storage to 512GB. This would double the storage available in the 2020 version, but we’ll just have to wait to see.

Another leak shows that the phone has 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. It also features a 6.7-inch screen and a 3-inch cover. It will be available in Tranquil Blue and Quartz Black colors.

While the current Motorola Razr 2020 has many positive aspects, it also has some issues. That is why we gave it only three stars in our review. The Motorola Razr 2022 could use the following improvements to become a 5-star phone.

  1. Lower prices

Althogh the Motorola Razr 2020 was less expensive than its foldable rival, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2, it still costs more than many other smartphones, even high-end, at the time. And it’s not a top-end phone.

We’d love to see the Motorola Razr2022 with a lower price, especially considering the competition from the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip range. It would be a lot more appealing if it could drop to $1000/PS1,000 – as the rumors are implying.

  1. Battery life is longer

The Razr 2020’s battery life was a major complaint. The Razr 2020 has two screens, but the 2,800mAh battery is much smaller than other phones. This results in a phone that lasts for a lot longer than others, based on our tests.

Motorola assumed users would be more dependent on the smaller cover screen than they actually were. Motorola also clearly wanted the phone to be thin so a smaller battery made it easier. However, the final result was a foldable device that wasn’t reliable for more than a day. This makes it an unreliable recommendation.

  1. No more creaks

We also had an issue with the Motorola Razr 2020’s hinge creaking when we unfolded the screen. We also had this issue with the 2019 model, so we hope that it will be fixed for the Motorola Razr 2022.

Motorola assures us that the creaks are nothing to be concerned about but it is not something you want to display on a premium device.

  1. Better screen

Although the Razr 2020 featured two screens, neither one was particularly noteworthy. The main display, which measures 6.2 inches, is slightly smaller than many high-end phones and mid-range smartphones. It is 876×2142 pixels. This is paired with a 60Hz refresh rate.

The secondary screen or cover screen measured 2.7 inches by 600 x 800. However, it’s even more impressive at 600 x 800.

We want some improvements to the Motorola Razr 2022’s main display. Although the current model is small, a higher resolution and faster refresh rate would be a great addition. This seems to be something we may actually get.

  1. A screen that can be adjusted to any angle

The main screen of the Razr 2020 could be either flat or open on the flip side, but the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip options allow you to position your phone in any orientation. You can open the Z Flip 3’s main display half way and place it flat at a right angle. This positioning was even called Flex Mode by Samsung.

This feature would be great for the Motorola Razr 2022. Although it’s not a big deal, it makes the most of a foldable screen.

  1. More cameras

Although the Razr 2020’s cameras were not bad, they were quite basic. They had a 48MP main camera and a 20MP selfie camera. This camera has fewer sensors than many mid-rangers and has a poorer quality camera.

We want to see more cameras for the Motorola Razr 2022. Rumors suggest that we will get two of the three cameras, so we are not complaining.

  1. Power at the top

The Motorola Razr 2020 was powered by a Snapdragon 765G chipset. This was upper-mid-range at the time. We had hoped for stronger silicon as the phone was more expensive than other flagships of the time.

There are signs that a Snapdragon 8 Generation 1 is on the horizon. This SoC was found in most flagship Android phones launched in the first half of 2022. However, some sources claim that the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 SoC will be the choice. If so, it will likely meet our expectations more easily.
