It might be silly to look ahead at a phone we don’t anticipate arriving for another year. It’s not difficult to imagine the iPhone 15 when you consider what leaks have revealed about the iPhone 15’s predecessor and timelines for certain hardware changes.
When will the iPhone 15 be released?
Apple follows a very strict schedule. After the 2022 iPhone 14 Launch, Apple’s likely timeline is the iPhone 15 by 2023 and then the iPhone Flip/Fold by 2025.
Rumours point to the following models: iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Max.
Lifewire Release Date Estimate
Apple’s fall releases are evident after several iPhone launches. The iPhone 15 will be released in September 2023, as there is still one more phone to come.
iPhone 15 Price Rumors
An early price estimate won’t be accurate as we don’t know the exact price of the future phone. However, you can expect to spend at least $1,000. The iPhone 14 Pro Max was $1,099.
The entire pricing structure could be changed if Apple begins selling the iPhone as a subscription-based service, which is expected to begin in the same year that the iPhone 15 is due to arrive.
Pre-Order Information
The iPhone 15 will be available for pre-order directly through Apple’s website. This is likely to happen the same day that it’s announced. The details will be revealed at the Apple event in September. For more information, please visit our Next Apple Event webpage.
iPhone 15 Features
The iPhone’s operating system is updated every year on a similar basis. If we take iOS 15 as a starting point, we can see that iOS 17 will be available by the time iPhone 15 launches. While the number sequence is fairly straightforward, the exact features this OS will offer are not yet known.

iPhone 15 Specifications and Hardware
Although this phone is still many months away from release, some details from analysts and leakers point to what we’ll likely see in terms iPhone 15 specs.
Apple began using Face ID instead of Touch ID in 2017. With the iPhone 15, that could be changing. Ming-Chi Kuo is a name you may be familiar with if you keep up to date on Apple-related leaks. According to the analyst, the 2023 iPhone will have an in-screen Touch ID – since that year corresponds with the iPhone 15 it is safe to assume that Touch ID will return to iPhone 15 and will be integrated under the display. ( Apple has even filed a patent for an underdisplay biometrics sensor).
A later report from Kuo contradicts his earlier prediction.
While we won’t know the iPhone 15 screen size for some time, Kuo suggests 2024 as the year Apple releases a “real fullscreen iPhone”, with a lineup featuring an under-display front cam and under-display face ID. Two sizes might be included in the 2023 iPhone 15 lineup: the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro sized at 6.1 inches, and the iPhone 15 Max and iPhone 15 Pro sized at 6.7 inches.
Ross Young predicts the future iPhone releases in terms of under-panel hardware. The iPhone 15 will likely have a pill and hole instead of a top.
An all-wireless iPhone is another significant development we might see. In late 2021 the European Commission suggested USB-C be the preferred port for smartphones. was then confirmed in mid-2022. It will be mandatory in Europe by 2024. This will mean that Apple will have to get rid of the Lightning connector, which has been standard on iPhones. Although this change would not be revolutionary considering Macs and most iPads already have them, it could push Apple to make the iPhone entirely wireless. They might stick with USBC. This will only be known over time.
Another thing we heard about the underdisplay tech is a front facing camera. This is unlikely to happen until Apple has perfected under-display FaceID, but they may release both in the same year.
According to this source, the iPhone 15 Pro Max will have a 12MP lens and a 5-6x optical zoom. Analyst Jeff Pu predicts one of the models to have a periscope lens capable of 10x optical zoom. It is impossible to know for certain.
This is a concept for the iPhone 15 Pro, which uses some of these ideas like Touch ID and in-screen FaceID. The back-facing camera housing also features an Apple Watch-like display that displays information and controls for music, calls, and other functions.
