iPhone 14 Price – The iPhone 14 will be priced at $799 / PS779 / AU$1,349 but the iPhone 14 Pro Max and Pro Max will go up by $100 starting at $1099.
Design The iPhone 14 Pro model will likely match the iPhone 13. However, the iPhone 14 Pro Max and iPhone 14 Pro Pro models are likely to have a punch-hole camera rather than a notch. The iPhone 14 Mini is almost certain to be replaced by the iPhone 14 Max.
iPhone 14 colors: The big day is just weeks away and rumors are swirling that the iPhone 14 (and 14 Pro) will be available in a new shade of purple. This color seems to be the most popular this year. Other colors are expected to be similar, including red, blue, white and black for the Pro and gold, graphite, and silver for Pro.
: The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro have 6.1-inch OLED screens measuring 1170×2532 pixels. The iPhone 14 Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max are designed for 6.7-inch OLED screens measuring 1284×2778 pixels. The Pro models will have a 120Hz refresh rate, while the rest of the models will have a 60Hz rate.
Camera HTML3_ The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will have 48MP main cameras, up from the 12MP on current models. This will allow for 8K video recording. The iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Max will likely have a triple-lens snapper, while the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Max will only have two rear lenses.

iPhone 14 Release Date
- All models launched on September 7,
- Launch date September 16th, although it may not be the iPhone 14 Max
Apple has sent invites to an event scheduled for September 7. We are confident that the iPhone 14 will be launched at this event.
The timing works. A recent Mark Gurman report has stated that the iPhone 14 launch date will be September 7. With the on-sale date being September 16, Mark Gurman claims with some confidence. However, the iPhone 14 Max may not get on-sale until September 16.
This would be the iPhone’s first joint launch, matching the iPhone 7 Plus and 7 Plus launched in 2016.
Rumored delays were experienced in the build-up to the launch date. However, they have abated in recent months with trial production beginning in February and the engineering validation stage supposedly being entered as of March. This is all on time.
Although we heard that China lockdowns have slowed things, at least one iPhone 14 Max model – which is believed to be the iPhone 14 Max- was three weeks behind the rest, it seems like most models are still on track.
Apple is also said to be trying to speed up the process. MingChi Kuo – a respected analyst – stated that the situation was under control as per May. However, in July another source told us that Apple is still behind on panel production of the iPhone 14 Max. This means that things aren’t looking great for themodel.
Despite this, we were informed in August that Apple was planning on producing 90 million units iPhone 14 lines in 2022. This is consistent with previous years and indicates there won’t be any major delays.
iPhone 14 Price
- iPhone 14 starts at $799/PS779/AU $1,349
- iPhone 14 Pro starting at $1,099 with a $100 increase
One iPhone 14 price leak has been reported. It listed four new members, with a Max and a Mini.
The base phone will be priced at $799, while the iPhone 13 will cost $799 / PS779 / AU$1,349 – so it fits. The iPhone 14 Max will go for $100 more. Similar information has been reported elsewhere that the iPhone 14 will come with the same starting price as the iPhone 13.
According to reports, the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will retail for $1,099, $1,199, respectively. This would make each device $100 less than their predecessors. This claim is repeated often and seems pretty certain to be true.
iPhone 14 design
- Thicker designs to provide better battery
- The iPhone 14 Pro has a larger camera bump
- The ‘Pill and Punch’ combo replaces the notch on Pro models
AdvertisementSkip advert
The most important thing about the iPhone 14 design, however, is that it won’t be any different. The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro will have the same footprints as last year with the same angles.
The iPhone 14 Pro Max will follow the same instructions as the 13 Pro Max. However, all models will be slightly thicker in order to fit a larger battery.
The iPhone 14 Max will replace the iPhone 14 mini. This is expected to be the iPhone 14 Pro Max, but with a third camera and a faster processor.
It’s the extra sensor at the back and a notch at top that make it stand out in terms of design.
Late-to-the-party leak suggests that the iPhone 14 Mini will be still (opens new tab), based upon Asia-Pacific marketing materials by a reputable partner.
This sudden appearance could be a coincidence with the news that the iPhone 14 Max is becoming more difficult to make (and could indicate a last-minute Apple switch), but we aren’t giving much credence to this one until other leaks start to come in or Apple shows it off live.
Our initial look at the iPhone 14 design was taken from one large leak below. This includes unofficial renders for the iPhone 14 Pro Max. However, we have since gained better, more plausible ideas for the future design.
The design of the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro ranges has been redesigned. The ‘basic’ range, non-Pro, looks similar to the iPhone 13 but the iPhone 14 Pro range gets some changes. A thicker case, larger camera bump, and a combo called ‘pill and punch’ at the top of screen replace the notch.
Mark Gurman, MingChi Kuo have both stated that the notch would be replaced by a punch hole camera. It’s been consistently shown in renders since then.
Image 1 of 2.
The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max may actually have a slightly larger camera bump that the iPhone 13 Pro series. This is reportedly due to the new 48MP sensor. (more below).
Some early leaks suggested that the iPhone 14 would return to the round volume buttons from previous years, but this has since been discredited. There are plenty of leaked schematics and cases pointing to the more traditional lozenge-style.
Weibo also showed us some 3D models of dummy cases earlier in the year. While these could have been based on rumors rather than actual Apple models, they give an idea of the sizes you can expect.
The iPhone 14 Pro Max may also look like from CAD renders. While renders are digital sketches of the iPhone, these renders from Madmix match up nicely with what we expect.

We have heard elsewhere that Pro models could be made from a titanium alloy. This model would be stronger than current models and the source claims that there will be an iPhone 14 Max instead of an iPhone 14 mini.
iPhone 14 colors
- iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max in purple and white as well as black, blue, and red
- iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max in purple graphite and silver, as well as gold
- Both have been suggested as green variants, but it is unlikely that they will be.

One rumor keeps coming up about the new iPhone 14 color: the iPhone 14 will feature a purple version for both the Pro and base models.
Expectations are high, and this is exactly what it is at the moment. There are very few leaks in this area of the iPhone 14.
It’s all covered in more detail in the article linked above. In short, the leaks from accounts such as @Jioriku have been working hard to get the expected colors.
We should see the iPhone 14/14 Max in purple (but less saturated that previous years), white (known under Starlight), blue (but more sky-blue) and PRODUCT (RED).
Although a green variant was rumored, it was not launched until the iPhone 13 model’s mid-cycle. We don’t expect that one to be available again this year.
The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will likely come with graphite grey, silver, and gold. Green has been mentioned, but it doesn’t seem probable, for the same reasons.
This means that the Sierra Blue version, which was a favorite in the iPhone 13 Pro range, has been discontinued. There won’t also be a pink variation, which is quite surprising considering its popularity.
Display for iPhone 14
- Two 6.1 inch phones, two 6.7 inch
- 120Hz refresh rate in Pro models, ‘standard’ 60Hz in iPhone 14
- Always-on display on iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max
AdvertisementSkip advert
MingChi Kuo, a trusted leaker, claims there will be two iPhone 14 models measuring 6.1 inches (a Pro and a Standard) and two 6.7 inch models (a Pro Max (and a Max)
We also received more detailed screen specs by Ross Young (another leaker who has a solid track record). Young claims that the iPhone 14’s OLED screen will be 6.06 inches (170×2532) and have a 60Hz refresh rate. It will also boast 460 pixels per in.
The iPhone 14 Pro will likely have identical screen specs but with a variable refresh rate of 120Hz.
The iPhone 14 Pro Max will have a 6.68 inch 1284 x 2778 OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 458 pixels per inches, and a screen size of 268, x 2778. The iPhone 14 Max will likely feature the same screen specs as Pro Max, but with a 60Hz refresh speed.
Apple was reported to be considering a 120Hz LCD screen for its iPhone 14 Max. However, the results have not been released. We don’t believe that it will happen, as there were whispers about a larger model with a 90Hz display.
The iPhone 14 Pro Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max will both have an always-on display (opens new tab), which is similar to what Samsung uses for years.
This idea has been mentioned again in code within iOS16. It means you could get simple, small widgets without having to turn on your iPhone.
A patent is also available for a technology that could strengthen the iPhone’s screen without making it thicker. This would be a great addition but patents rarely turn into anything so don’t expect to see it.
iPhone 14 camera
- Two sensors on each of the 14 Pro
- 48MP main camera for 14 Pro
- Capable to 8K video recording
- Questions remain over night-recording quality
AdvertisementSkip advert
Most sources indicate that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max have a triple-lens camera. The iPhone 14 Max and 14 Max, however, will likely use two lenses.
This doesn’t seem to be much different from the iPhone 13 range. However, the specifications of the sensors and lenses may differ.
Ming-Chi Kuo claims that the iPhone 14 Pro will have a 48MP main cam instead of the 12MP in the current models. This camera would be capable of recording8K video. He’s repeated this claim, so he seems to be very certain of it.
Additionally, another analyst also joined Kuo’s claim that both Pro models will feature 48MP cameras in 2022. Although it is not confirmation, it does help Kuo’s original claim.
Recently, we heard that the 48MP camera might be “the most powerful in a smartphone” if there is enough light. However, it may perform worse in low light than the iPhone 13 Pro.
What does this mean? Apple needs to do more testing, but it is clearly playing with the sensors’ capabilities to get better daylight photos. This means that Apple could be able to fix bugs in other areas before launch.
Rumours of a periscope camera are also out there (for long-range optical zoom) and we even saw a patent to support these claims. Most sources indicate that this is and will likely land on the iPhone 15 later.
There’s also the front camera. This could be improved on every iPhone 14 model with multiple source pointing at and the addition of autofocus. This would allow for sharper selfies.
It could also have additional elements in its lens and an adjustment in aperture to improve low-light capabilities. However, these are just a few of the many leaks that exist until Apple finalizes the specs of the phone. This can often happen very late in the process.
iPhone 14 specifications and features
- Upgraded processor iPhone 14 Pro to A16 Bionic
- All models have 6GB RAM, but not the identical speed
- Storage starting at 128GB
- Separate, eSIM model coming
We are almost certain that the iPhone 14 PRO range will feature a new chipset. It is likely to be the A16 Bionic but not the iPhone 14.
These chips were made using the 5nm process. However, it was not used for the last two years. TSMC (the company producing them) seems to be struggling to transition to a 3nm technology for its next generation of chips for iPhones.
It seems highly likely that the 3nm process, which will improve speed and battery life of phones using it, will be used next year’s devices. The iPhone 2023 will get the benefit of the A17 Bionic chip.
It is very likely that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will get the new A16 Bionic Chipset. The basic models would still have the A15 Bionic, although it is the more powerful model than we saw in the iPhone 13 Pro.
According to the same source, 6GB RAM is expected in all models. However, the iPhone 14 Pro will have the faster LPDDR5 RAM.
Macworld published an excellent deep diving (opens new tab) about the power increases that you can expect for the iPhone 14 Pro models. You should check it out if youre into geeking out on the transistor space.
The iPhone 13 Pro models increased the maximum storage capacity from 512MB up to 1TB. We’re hearing that the iPhone 14 Pro phones could double it again. could go all the way to 2TB. However, recent leaks suggest that the capacity will still be at 1TB.
The conflicting information at the moment is the iPhone 14 Pro’s starting storage. If they start at 256GB as has been suggested, then the $100 price hike is more palatable. But, we haven’t heard anything concrete about that.
What other changes? Mark Gurman stated that Apple had tested under-display Touch ID. However, the company is now fully committed to Face ID.
Although the switch from Lightning to USB-C was rumored in the beginning of the year, it’s too early to know – it will be iPhone 15 at least, to comply with new EU legislation.

Patents suggested that the iPhone 14 could also feature , a new type of 3D Touch. This would allow for more intuitive interactions and use haptic feedback. We wouldn’t be surprised if this patent is ever granted.
Apple may switch from a physical SIM to an eSIM, which you would not be able remove. This feature is already available in the iPhone 13 range, but it’s not an alternative to a physical SIM card. If Apple decides to go eSIM-only on any iPhone 14, it will likely also offer models with both types.
We also heard that speakers could be better in the future models. This is a rumor that we believe will come true.
Battery life for iPhone 14
- Get up to two hours of battery life with 14 Pro models
- All internal batteries increased
The iPhone 14 battery could see some improvements. One source says it will become larger in the next models. Another source claims that the phones will be thicker. This could make room for a larger power supply.
A leaker claimed that the iPhone 14 could have a 3,279mAh lithium battery, while the iPhone 14 Pro might have a 3,200mAh, iPhone 14 Pro Max may have 4,325mAh, while the iPhone 14 Pro Max may contain 4,325mAh and the iPhone 14 Pro Max may include a similar 4,323mAh power supply.
All of these would be upgrades, except for the Pro Max which would be a slight decrease in performance. However, the Pro Max is more likely to see a significant increase due to the closeness of the mAh levels.
We have heard elsewhere that the iPhone 14 Pro may offer two hours of life more than its predecessor. This is certainly encouraging. It would be due to the combination of the increased efficiency of A16 Bionic chipsets and the slightly larger design.

Magsafe’s possible appearance on the iPhone 14 (Image credit to Apple / TechRadar).
You might use a MagSafe charger when it is time to charge your device, rather than the Lightning Port . This is based on one patent. However, early unofficial renders still show the Lightning connector intact.
We expect a key upgrade: 30W charging. This would allow you to chuck your new iPhone onto an ultra-fast charger and be done in far less than usual. Apple has been slow in this area and its competitors have taken a lead.
Apple may want to prolong the battery’s life, which can lead to faster charging, but there is a way to strike a balance. The communication between the charger and the phone is so advanced that it can be minimized.
