Many stories have been shared by Insignia TV owners about this issue. Some claim it has been a problem over the years.

Insignia TV won’t turn on

Unplug insignia TV wall
It’s a simple solution, but it will turn your Insignia TV on.
Wait at least 60 seconds. Wait at least one minute before plugging it in again.
Locate the power button and unplug your TV. For 30 seconds, hold the power button. Use your remote control! You will find the power button either at the back of the TV or in the middle.
A soft reset will be enabled and any remaining power will be drawn. This is an alternative to turning the remote on/off.
After the 60 second limit, turn the TV off and plug it back in to the power outlet.
This should resolve approximately 80% of cases. It can be challenging for the remaining 20%. These are the steps you need to take to get your Insignia TV back in working order.
Get batteries from Insignia remote
If your TV is still having problems, replace the batteries.
The remote must be unplugged from both batteries.
Once the batteries are removed, you can hold the power button down for 30 seconds. Keep going for another 30 seconds. This should be done for 30 seconds and not 10 minutes.
After the time expires, you can plug the batteries into the remote and turn on the TV. You should see the TV turn on once more.
It may be worthwhile to replace the batteries at this point.
If you’ve tried all the steps above, factory reset your Insignia TV to find a permanent solution.

NOTE: Insignia remotes won’t work if the TV has been factory reset. To re-pair, your TV, point the remote at it and hold the HOME button down for 10 seconds. After a while, you can try again. It should now be paired.
You can factory restart Insignia TV in other ways
If you are having trouble finding the reset button, or if your TV isn’t in a good place, there are options.
Plugin a USB keyboard first to the back of your Insignia television.
The keyboard can be used to reset or navigate the TV.

Your smartphone can now be used as a remote control by connecting your TV to the app!
To activate an old universal remote, you can also use the Insignia Code to grab it.

Another way to fix your power problem is to unplug the power cord from your TV.
Plug it back in after 60 seconds of being unplugged.

Select the right input source
Insignia TVs could appear to be not functioning if the input source is incorrect. You must ensure that your TV functions correctly by choosing the right input source.
No matter if your streaming device is a DVD player, cable box, or streaming device is being used, double-check that the HDMI port number is correct. You would set your TV to “HDMI2”, as shown in the next example.
There are two ways to choose the right input source.
Method 1 – Remote Control to Enable InputSource
- Turn on your TV
- To press the Source button, use the remote control
- Select the input mode that you prefer
Method 2 – Change input source with remote control
- Turn on your TV
- You can find the MENU button on the side or bottom of your TV.
- To select the source option, press the volume button
- Click the menu button to select the input source that you prefer
Some TVs allow you to choose the input source that interests you.
Locate a new power outlet
It is possible, but it is unlikely. I recommend plugging your Insignia TV into another outlet in your home.
Sometimes outlets could have a short circuit or a blown fuse. It is unclear what might be causing it.
Another option is to grab a small appliance and plug it into the same outlet as your TV.
If the device is on, it indicates that an outlet has been turned on.
Although it’s unlikely that this is the cause, it is an important step in troubleshooting and should be done quickly to eliminate it from being a suspect.
Backlight broken
It’s possible that the backlight on your Insignia TV has stopped working after all of the testings.
Turn on the TV and then use a flashlight for verification.
If you flash the light, the image will appear on the screen.

The power board is fried
Your power board could have been damaged in a recent storm. Your power board could have been damaged by a recent storm.
Once you’ve done this, you’ll see multiple boards. The motherboard is on the right and the power board is usually on the left.
The problem is not with the motherboard. Turn on your TV, plug it into the wall and disconnect the cable that connects the motherboard to the power board.
The power board should be able to turn on your TV if it lights up. A bad motherboard is a problem.
For a very affordable price, both power boards and motherboards are easily replaced. Make sure you check the number on your board.
If you don’t feel confident fixing your TV yourself, you can hire a repairman.
