The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a feature that every iPhone has. It allows you to share your location with others in real time. You can also share the location of your iPhone using the Find My app or Messages.
Share your location on an iPhone
To share your iPhone’s location, first enable location services.
After you have enabled Location Services and turned on Share My Location within the Find My App you will be able to share your location with Find My App.
Share you location on iPhone via Find My App
The Find My app makes it easy to locate your iPhone or other Apple devices. These are the steps you need to take in order to share your location with the app.
- Click the “Find My App” button. Next, click the People tab. This option is located in the lower-left corner.
- Next, tap on the Start collaborating button.
- Share your location by entering your telephone number or contact number.
- Then select Send.
- Next choose the time you wish to share your location.
- Next click on OK. An email will be sent asking for permission to share the location with your contact.
Note: Click on the People tab of the Find My App to see the location for another user. Scroll down and select the person you wish to follow.

You can also send a map using the Messages app if you don’t wish to share your location.
Send a message to Your iPhone location
Open Messages to share your location with the iPhone. To send your current location, tap the “i” button.
- You can open the Messages app for your iPhone. Use this to send a message.
- Next, start a conversation. Tap on an existing conversation or tap at the top to start a new one.
Notification - Next, click on the email address and name of the contact. The profile picture will now open the contact’s menu.
- Next, tap the information icon at top of the app. This icon looks like an “I” within a circle.
- Next, click Send My Current Address. The map will be visible to your contact.
Notification: An App message may appear saying “Turn On Location Services to Allow Messages To Send Your Location.” Scroll down to Settings and modify your Allow location access settings.

- Contacts open on your iPhone.
- Next, choose one of your contacts.

To share your location with your iPhone, open Messages. Tap on an existing conversation, or create a new one. Next select the profile photo of the contact and tap “i”. Finally, tap Send my Current location.

- Next, start a conversation. You can either tap on an existing conversation, or start a new one by tapping at the blue pen-and paper icon at the top.
