How to enable cookies on iPhone iOS 7 through 10

It is nearly identical to enabling cookies on iPhones with iOS 7 or 8 (iPhones 4-7 Plus) to enable them on older operating systems. There is an additional step, as illustrated below.

  1. Go to Setting.
  2. Scroll down and tap Safari.
  3. Scroll down and tap Block cookies.
  4. Tap Allow Websites I Visit.

You can tap Allow From Current Website Only. This would allow only first-party cookies to be allowed. Third-party cookies from websites that you have previously visited are not permitted. You can also tap Always Accept to allow all types of cookies, even those not from the same website.

Why do I need to enable cookies on my iPhone?

Cookies have been given a bad reputation in today’s privacy-focused world. While some of these concerns are justified, it doesn’t mean that cookies don’t have their uses. Cookies can remember your login information for specific websites so that you are logged in every time you visit them.

Cookies also remember your preferences for certain websites and domains. This saves you from the annoying pop-up asking if you want to receive notifications. Cookies are essential for online retailers because they keep track of what you have in your shopping cart.

In other words, they are a huge timesaver. It is therefore advisable to enable them.

How to delete cookies

You can choose to delete cookies periodically, or to disable cookies permanently. This is possible in cases where you have stored settings or visited websites you don’t want to erase.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Go to Setting.
  2. Scroll down and tap Safari.
  3. Tap Advanced.
  4. Tap Website Data.
  5. Drag individual website cookies to your left and tap Delete. Or, you can remove all cookies from your phone by tapping Remove All Website Data.
  6. To confirm deletion, tap Remove Now

This will clear any cookies currently stored on your iPhone, but it won’t prevent new cookies being saved for future use.
