Apple’s AirPods are one of the most loved wireless earbuds, if they are not the most, on the market. You might be curious about how to charge your AirPods if you have purchased one. Here’s how.
How to Charge your AirPods
It’s easy to charge your AirPods if the battery is flat. It’s actually part of the AirPods’ design.
You can charge your AirPods by simply slipping them into the AirPods’ case. The case stores battery power and can be used to charge your AirPods up to three times. It acts as a mini power bank. The left AirPod goes in the left slot and the right into the right.
AirPods can be charged while they’re in the case. The case will need to be charged if the AirPods don’t charge in it or the indicator light turns orange.
How to Charge your AirPods Case
You want to charge your AirPods case and the AirPods within it before they run out of juice. It helps preserve the battery life of your earbuds. However, it doesn’t mean they will go flat.
You have two options to charge your AirPods case: wired or wireless. Depending on the AirPods model you own and your charging case, which option you choose depends on what generation you have.
Wireless Charging of Your AirPods Case
Only AirPods equipped with a Wireless Charging Case are capable of being charged wirelessly. This case is standard on both the second-generation AirPods Pro (2019) and the second-generation AirPods Pro (2019). Apple offers a Wireless Charging Case to fit the first-generation AirPods Pro. However, this accessory is optional and worth keeping in mind if you aren’t sure which AirPods you should choose .
Wireless charging can be done with any wireless charger pad. Your AirPods case should be placed on the wireless charger, with the status light facing upward and the lid closed. For eight seconds, the status light should display the charge level.
You will need to plug the wireless charging pad into the mains. Other than that, you don’t have to do anything. Simply place your AirPods in the case and they will start charging automatically.
This can be done with or without AirPods.
Use a cable to charge your AirPods case
The Lightning cable included with your AirPods can be plugged into the Lightning port of your AirPods to charge your device. The other end of your cable can be plugged into a USB port or charger.
Your AirPods case will continue to charge while it is plugged in. The indicator light will indicate if the case is full. The full charge should take approximately one to two hours so this is a guideline.
You can also charge the case without or with the AirPods.
How about charging AirPods Pro?
The same procedure applies to charging your AirPods Pro. AirPods Pro can be charged wirelessly or wired. The AirPods Pro case is different but has the same Lightning port as the wireless charging capabilities.
AirPods Pro has a unique charging feature: While it’s wirelessly charging, you can tap on the AirPods Pro to check its charging status. A green light indicates that it is fully charged and an amber light signifies that it is still charging.
Make sure to keep your AirPods charged up
It’s crucial to keep your AirPods charged and in good condition. Apart from the convenience of being able to pull out your earbuds and use them quickly, allowing the AirPods battery drain to its maximum capacity can cause battery damage.
