Every smartphone comes with the ability to keep their most frequently used apps open in the background for quick access and switching between them. This feature is also known by its name:”the application switcher or menu of recent apps.
To open this screen, choose one of the devices from the options below and follow the steps.
How do you find open applications on Android

- If you own a more recent Android handset, swipe up from the lower-right corner on the display. If your phone is equipped with physical navigation buttons use the square button to switch apps near the button for home. You may also see an icon that has three vertical lines that allow access to this switcher.
- Use the swipe left or right of your finger to view all open apps.
- To open an application, tap its image.
- To shut down an application in the Recently Utilized Apps screen, just swipe the app’s window upwards using your fingers. Once closed, the app disappears from the list.
How to locate open applications on iPhone
- Swipe upwards at the very bottom of your iPhone for it to launch an Application Switcher. If you’re using a more recent iPhone version, simply swipe upwards from the left-hand corner of the bottom.
- Swipe left or right using your finger to view all open apps.
- To open an application, tap its image.
- To shut down an app using your Application Switcher to close it, simply swipe the app window up using your fingers. After closing, the app disappears from the list.
