Smartphones have become so sophisticated that they can replace our computers for everyday tasks such as email and video streaming.
There are many options for sharing files between an Android phone and a PC. The best way to share files between a PC and an Android phone depends on the amount of data you wish to transfer.
1. Transfer files from your laptop to your phone using a USB cable
Choose the most reliable and longest method to transfer files between your Android phone and your PC. Plug your phone into the charger cable.
After it’s setup, you can use Windows or a Chromebook to do the following:
- Connect your phone.
- Tap the notification Android labeled Charge this phone via USB.
- Set USB Settings.
This will bring up the file transfer window on your computer. The file transfer window will show your SD card and phone number.
These instructions are almost identical for a Mac. You will need to install the Android file-transfer software. You can also upload files via OpenMTP.
This method is great for copying large amounts of data. You can easily move files to the SD card on your smartphone.

2. Laptop and Mobile File Sharing Without a Cable
Google Drive offers you 15GB cloud storage space through your Google account. You can transfer files between your phone, laptop, and computer easily.
Download the Google Drive app to your laptop. Microsoft OneDrive and Dropbox also work the same way.
Log in to set up Google Drive. Choose Save all files, then click Next.
Next, click Advanced Setting. Click Sync my drive to this computer. Then, click OK.
You will now have a Google Drive directory.
This is the fastest method to transfer files. The main thing to keep in mind is that files you see in the Drive app can’t be saved to your phone. You can use your monthly data allowance to download large files.
There are two ways to download files to your phone. Select a file, then choose one of these two options:
- Make it available offline. This will save the file to your Drive to allow offline viewing. The file will automatically sync with any changes you make.
- Save the file by clicking on Download. The file can be opened with any compatible app. It will be necessary to upload it again to Drive.
You can transfer files between different Google Drive accounts.
3. Share Files From PC to Mobile

Gmail limits attachments at 25MB. YouTransfer allows you to send files up to 2GB without registration.

You can also use WhatsApp for transferring files from your Android phone to your computer. This is an easy way to quickly share images and documents with your friends.
One contact can create a WhatsApp group to share files. After creating the group, you can delete contacts.
To send files, you will need to log in to WhatsApp Web from your computer. After that, you can upload the files to the group conversation.

Bluetooth allows you to transfer small files to your phone.
Pair your Windows 10 and 11 laptops first to send files over Bluetooth. Settings > devices.

First, go to Settings>>> Send or receive files via Bluetooth> Send files. Next choose the file you want to share
While the names of the menu options might be different on other platforms, the process is the same. You can then share.
Bluetooth is slower that other methods and so it’s best for small files.
Wi Fi allows you to share files.
Wi Fi is the best choice if you need to transfer large files to your phone frequently.
To copy files over WiFi, you will need an app for your phone and nothing for your laptop.
Snapdrop Is a free service that does not require registration. You don’t need to install it.
Download and install the Android App from Google Play Store to get started.
Download the Snapdrop app to your smartphone, and then open it in the desktop browser. Both will be able to recognize each other as long as they are connected to the same Wi Fi Network.
You can send a file from your smartphone to your laptop or computer.
- Tap anywhere in the app.
- Open the file manager. Click on the file that you want to send.
- They’ll start sending them immediately.
- Click Save and Download to continue.
Send a document from your laptop to your smartphone:
- You’ll find an icon in the middle of your Snapdrop window that represents your Android phone.
- Click OK to open the files you want to share, then click Open.
- The files will begin copying immediately.
- To save files tap Save in the app for your smartphone.
