Best space heaters in 2022 tested and rated

Popular Posts

Space heaters that are efficient and effective will keep you warm during cold days without wasting energy. A space heater must heat you enough, and it must do this quickly and without making too much noise. With rising energy costs, you want a space heater that is affordable to operate. It shouldn’t heat more space than it needs, nor will it cost too much energy to heat the floor. A space heater that is easy to use and has enough settings to fit a variety of situations will be the ideal one.

Space heaters that have multiple functions should be considered. Some space heaters double up as fans and others as humidifiers. We’ve tested many models to help you choose the right model for your needs. We have you covered, no matter what your budget is or how advanced you want to go. These space heaters are top-rated.

Which are the best space heaters for you?

We have tested a variety of space heaters and found the Lasko FH500 to be the most effective for heating up a whole room. It was capable of raising the temperature by 10 degrees Fahrenheit in our tests. It can be operated by the remote, and even used as a fan during summer. The Vornado VH200 Heater, which is smaller and more affordable, will heat up large areas. It will set you back $80, so it’s almost half the price. It is also extremely quiet when it works.

Although the Dyson Purifier Hot and Cool HP07 is more expensive than most space heaters, it still has a modern design. It purifies the air while it heats or cools it, and connects with Wi-Fi. You get a lot for the money if you are willing to spend a little more.

The Lasko FH500, although it is over three feet tall, is very slim and features a simple, clean design. It was able to raise the temperature by 10 degrees Fahrenheit in a test room measuring 15×10 feet. It was quick to heat up, and within 12 seconds we were feeling warmer. It used an average amount of energy compared to other heaters, despite its high heat output. If you are looking to cut down on your energy bills, you can use the eco mode to make it more efficient. The power cycle will start at a specific temperature and then turn off when you have set the temperature. You can set the fan to oscillate to ensure even heat distribution. You can set the fan to automatically shut off after 8 hours.

The Lasko’s surfaces are not dangerous and the noise isn’t too loud. The permanent filter inside the Lasko needs to be installed before use. It should then be vacuumed every 2 weeks to maintain its top condition. The heater can be controlled via its panel or a remote control. You can keep it in a pocket at the back of your tower. It is the most effective space heater. It also won the Tom’s Guide2022 Award for Best Space Heater.

The Vornado VH200 Heater’s small size, silver-toned case, and trapezoid design are unassuming. It was still capable of increasing the temperature in a small space by 6 degrees Fahrenheit in 20 minutes. Additionally, it provided even heating throughout the room. It can be placed directly in front of you and you will feel warm in just 30 seconds. The Vornado consumes an average amount of energy compared to other space heaters, approximately 0.26 kWh. The Vornado uses a relatively low amount of energy compared to other space heaters. However, the thermostat dial can be used to lower the temperature and conserve energy once the room has warmed up.

The Vornado doesn’t burn your skin while it’s in operation. This space heater was quieter than any other we tested at 45.5 decibels. It sounds almost like a refrigerator, so it won’t interfere with phone calls or TV shows. The Vornado VH200 space heater is small enough to be discreet and still heats up the room. It’s also a great space heater at a low price of less than $100.

There are many reasons to buy

+Eco setting to conserve energy+Remote control available+Can be used in a fan/or humidifier+Wheeled allows for easy maneuverability

Avoidable reasons

Over 25 pounds, your heating performance may be better.

The Dr. Infrared Heating DR-998’s rectangular shape and wooden case could mistakenly be mistaken for a sub-woofer speaker. It is well built and feels substantial. It would look great in a room that has a lot wood furniture and a warm color scheme. However, it may not be right for a home with a gray or white palette. It was able to raise the temperature by approximately 4 degrees Fahrenheit when it was set to high in the 15×10 foot test room. The heat spread evenly throughout the room with only a 2 degree difference, which was similar to other heaters that we tested. It was able to heat us up within 30 seconds if placed near our seats. The heater consumes an average amount of energy when compared to other space heaters.

It has large, clearly marked control buttons on the front and an LED display that displays the settings with easily-read numbers. You can use this heater as a humidifier or fan to cool your home. It can oscillate 360 degrees to ensure a uniform distribution of air. This heater is 25 pounds and difficult to lift. It has wheels, which make it easy for it to be rolled across the floor or into storage closets.

You can set the timer to turn the heater off after 12 hours. The remote can be used to control the heater from anywhere in the room. This heater will not burn your skin and it is quiet at 51.7 decibels when on the highest setting. That’s about average for a space heater. You’ll need to change the filter about once per month.

4. Dyson Purifier Hot + Cool HP07

Best Splurge OR Most Versatile Space Heater

Wattage: 1500

Heat settings: From 32degF to 99.99degF in one-degree increments

Weight: 9 pounds

Dimensions: 8.7×9.8×30 inches

Heat element: Metal

Safety Features: Automatic shut off in case of overheating, tip over protection, bladeless, no exposed heating elements

Warranty: 2 Years

+Heats a room evenly and effectively+Modern design+Electronic thermostat+Remote controls included+App connectivity+A cooling fan purifies the air and cools it down

Avoidable reasons

-Can only control the heating function using the remote. -Needs to replace filters

Although the Dyson Purifier Hot and Cool HP07 space heater is more expensive than most, it still has many advantages that make it one of the best. It is beautiful, although its modern design may not be for everyone. It can heat, cool, and purify air. This means you get three appliances in one. The Dyson Purifier Hot and Cool HP07 increased the temperature in a room measuring 15×10 feet. It did this by increasing the temperature to its highest setting by 7 to 8 degrees Fahrenheit within 20 minutes. It used an average of 0.34kWh, which is more than any other model.

Despite the many functions of the Dyson, programming it with the remote is easy. You can adjust the heat level, change the speed of the airflow, set a timer and dim the display. The remote is required to operate the heating element. It will cost $30 to replace if lost. The heater’s surfaces stay completely cool so that no one can get burnt by touching them. It is also safe to use in cooling mode and easy to clean. The Dyson’s high heating setting produces a sound level of 55.8 decibels. This is roughly the same as the loudest heaters tested.

To trap gases and particles, the Dyson has a HEPA and carbon filter that can be split into two pieces. The Dyson claims it can handle allergens, mold, VOCs and formaldehyde. The filter will need to be replaced once a year, as it is an air purifier. This cost is $80. You can control fan speed, monitor air quality and get alerts via your smartphone’s Dyson app. It can also be controlled with Siri, Google Assistant, Alexa and Google Assistant.
