Best Samsung phones in the UK 2022: Which Galaxy is for you?

Popular Posts

The best Android phones are among the best Samsung phones, and can even beat Apple’s iPhone in certain areas. Samsung has the best phones, whether you are looking for a high-end Galaxy S model or something from the Galaxy A family.

The Galaxy S22 range was launched earlier in the year. All three models, including the larger Galaxy S22+ and Galaxy Note like Galaxy S22 U, are great. The Galaxy is a good example of a cheaper phone from the Korean company.

Below are our top Samsung Galaxy phone picks, along with recommendations for who would be best served by each model. Continue reading to learn more about the selections we made.

Which are the top Samsung phones?

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra phone is currently the best Samsung phone. The Galaxy S22 Ultra starts at PS1,149, but it has quad rear cameras, an S Pen, and the best display around.

We recommend the Galaxy S22 for those looking for a more affordable option. It offers many of the same features but is smaller. The Galaxy S21 FE is also available. Although it’s based on last year’s Galaxy S21 Series, it still offers a lot top-quality specs.

The Galaxy A53 is a great budget phone that shares many similarities with the more expensive Galaxy A53. The Galaxy A33 is also available, which costs slightly less.

The foldable Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 are the best options if you’re looking for the most advanced Samsung phones. Although you will have to sacrifice some functionality to allow the phones to bend and move, it is not impossible to be as versatile as they are.

There are many reasons to buy

+Built in S Pen+One the most impressive displays on phones today+Quad rear cameras with better night mode.

Avoidable reasons

-Expensive RAM is more expensive than the S21 Ultra

The Galaxy S22 Ultra is not just the best S22 but also the spiritual successor of the Galaxy Note series. The S22 Ultra has four rear cameras, an impressive display, and the same great performance. But, you also get an S Pen to jot down notes and doodling wherever you go. This phone is perfect for photography, productivity, and all other purposes.

Samsung expects a lot in return for their basic model, which costs PS1,149. The base model has 8GB RAM instead of 12GB as the Galaxy S21 Ultra. You can choose the 256GB model for 12GB RAM, but the standard model is powerful enough for most users.

2. Samsung Galaxy S22

This is the best Samsung phone for most people

Screen size: 6.1 inch Dynamic AMOLED (2340×1080).

Android version: 12, OneUI 4.1

CPU: Exynos 2200

Cameras: 50MP main; 12MP ultrawide; 10MP 3x Telephoto; 10MP Front

RAM/Storage: 8GB, 128GB, or 256GB

T +Premium but well-priced+Strong display colors+Improved zoom, low-light photos

Avoidable reasons

Disappointing battery life

Even though it cannot match the S22 Ultra, the basic Galaxy S22 offers the perfect combination of value and performance. The S22’s 6-inch size still contains a 120Hz display, triple rear cameras, and the Exynos 2200 chipset. This ensures true flagship performance.

The Galaxy S22 is a small phone. This means that the battery life of the S22 was not very good. We also tested the battery using a custom TG test. The Galaxy S22 is a great choice for anyone who uses the phone daily and has easy access to power outlets.

3. Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus

If you value a large screen, the Samsung phone is your best choice

Screen size: 6.6 inches

Version Android: 12 with OneUI 4.1

Processor: Exynos 2200

Cameras: 50MP wide; 12MP ultrawide; 10MP telephoto (rear); and 10MP (front).

RAM/Storage: 8GB/128GB, 256GB

There are many reasons to buy

+Vivid and large display+45W Charging+Reworked Cameras

Avoidable reasons

Sub-par is the only difference in size from S22-Battery Life.

The Galaxy S22 Plus is the awkward middle child in the Galaxy S22 family. It costs an additional PS180 over the S22, and includes a bigger and brighter display, larger batteries, and 45W fast-charging. It may not seem like much, considering that the Galaxy S22 Plus features are identical to those on the S22.

The S22 Plus’s cameras are great, especially the 50MP main sensor. We also like the night mode. The display quality of this phone is nearly as good as that of the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The S22 Plus may be the best option for you if you want a bigger handset, but still don’t want to sacrifice the S Pen and camera tech.

4. Samsung Galaxy A53

Best Samsung phone for those on a budget

Screen size: 6.5 inches

There are many reasons to buy

+120Hz display+Expandable storage option+Long OS support

Avoidable reasons

-Ultrawide and main cameras are the most effective

Samsung’s latest mid-priced smartphone shows that you don’t have to spend all your money if you enjoy expandable storage or smooth 120Hz refresh rates. You can enjoy the Samsung phone experience at a lower price with the Galaxy A53, which is a lot less than the Galaxy S line. The Galaxy A53 offers a generous four-year warranty and full updates. You can enjoy the Galaxy A53 even longer.

The cameras on the A53 are the most disappointing feature for a budget phone. The back has four lenses, but the macro- and depth cameras are not as good. The chipset isn’t very powerful, but this is to be expected with a phone this expensive.

For users who aren’t looking for the best tech but still want premium features, the Galaxy A53 is a solid companion.

5. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3

The best Samsung phone, that’s foldable

Screen size: 7.6 inches (inner), 6.2 inches (outer)

Version Android 11 with OneUI 3.1

Processor: Snapdragon 8888

Cameras: 12MP wide; 12MP ultrade; 12MP telephoto (rear);10MP (front); 4MP under-display

RAM/Storage: 12GB/256GB, 512GB

+120Hz on both displays+Tougher and more water-resistant design+ Enhanced multitasking

Avoidable reasons

-S Pen not included-But still expensive

Samsung’s top foldable right now, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 combines a tablet and smartphone in one like its previous versions, but now you have S Pen compatibility and more multitasking-compatible apps for even better productivity. The outer display has a 120Hz refresh rate and is waterproof.

The price is still quite high at PS1,600, which doesn’t include a stylus. Unfortunately, this is the current state of foldables. Samsung could use a little more competition from the best folding phones to encourage it to invent harder for future generations. However, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is as good as any foldable you can find right now.

6. Samsung Galaxy S21 FE

If you are looking for a less expensive flagship, this is the best Samsung phone

Screen Size: 6.4 inches

Version Android: 12 with OneUI 4

Processor: Exynos 2100

Cameras: 12MP main camera, 12MP ultrawide camera (Rear); 32MP front

RAM/Storage: 6GB, 8GB/128GB, 256GB

+Cheap flagship-grade phone+Night mode has been upgraded+Runs Android12 as standard

Avoidable reasons

-Static refresh rate of 120Hz is not adaptive-Many components have been around for a year or more

The Galaxy S21 FE is a great example of patience paying off. This model is based upon the 2021 Galaxy S21 Series and is therefore not as up-to-date with its cameras or chipset. It is still a flagship-grade experience with its 6.4-inch 120Hz display, triple rear cameras and massive display. However, the price starts at PS699, not PS799 as the Galaxy S22.

The extra PS100 will cost you a lot, so you need to weigh up whether it’s worth skipping the S21 FE. It’s still an affordable phone that will deliver exactly what you want, even if this is your only option.

7. Galaxy A32 5G

If you are looking to save as much money as possible, the Samsung Galaxy S5 is your best choice

Screen size: 6.5 inches

Version Android 11 with OneUI 3.1

Processor: Dimensity720

Cameras: 48MP main; 8MP ultrawide; 5MP macro, 2MP depth (Rear); and 13MP (Front).

RAM/Storage: 4GB/64GB

+Cheap+Long OS Update Support+Long Battery Life

Avoidable reasons

-Subpar HD+ display-Underpowered

This is the oldest phone in this list, at over a year. This is the best Samsung phone, cheap and still capable, until the Galaxy A33 goes to sale.

Although the display can only be used at 90Hz and has a poor HD resolution, it is still big and lasts for a long time. The A32 may be the best phone for you if you don’t require a lot of storage or computing power. It also promises three years of OS upgrades, which will help you save a lot of money over the long-term. Only the latest Galaxy A models are eligible to receive four years worth of software updates.

8. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3

The best Samsung phone for your pocketability

Screen size: 6.7 inches (inner), 1.9 inches (outer)

Version Android 11 with OneUI 3.1

Processor: Snapdragon 8888

Cameras: 12MP wide, ultrawide (12MP rear); 10MP front

RAM/Storage: 8GB/128GB, 256GB

+Cheap for a foldable+Customisable, waterproof and compact design+Cover display has been enlarged

Avoidable reasons

Weak battery life – Only two rear cameras

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 may be the phone for you if you are looking for a flip phone or a phone that can fit into a small pocket. This phone’s unique folding design makes it stand out. But don’t forget the Galaxy Z flip 3 Bespoke Edition that lets you choose different colours to make your phone truly special.

It’s not perfect, but it does have a few compromises. It’s a significant improvement over the original Galaxy Z Flip, thanks to a larger outer display, new chipsets and a starting price that is lower. If you don’t like the traditional design of the Galaxy S22 models, this would be a great choice.

How to select the best Samsung phone

When looking at the best Samsung smartphones, you must first consider your budget. Samsung offers many options. However, you need to decide if you are able to afford the Ultra models and foldables, or if you should stick to the cheaper FE and Galaxy A options.

Next, consider the size of these phones. If you are looking for a slim profile, the Galaxy S22 and the Galaxy Z Flip 3 are the smallest phones on the list. The Galaxy S22 Ultra or the Galaxy Z Fold 3 are the largest phones, with the former providing a tablet-sized internal display when folded. When choosing between the devices on your list, consider where you will store it, how easy it can be handled and how big it will hold.

Last but not least, think about how much storage you’ll need to store your photos, apps and other files. Samsung offers a generous base storage option. All the phones listed above have 128GB by default. You might want to upgrade to the Galaxy S22 if you require more storage on your device. The model you choose will determine how much storage you have.

Samsung phones tested

We test Samsung’s phones the same way as every other smartphone we review to find the best. To measure the graphics performance of each phone’s hardware, we run benchmarks. This allows us to compare Samsung devices to other phones, such as the iPhone. We also use real-world testing, which includes a video transcoding test with Adobe Premiere Rush.

We measure the brightness of each phone’s screen (in nits) and the color gamut (using the DCI-P3 and sRGB colors). Higher numbers are preferred in these cases. Also, we measure the color accuracy of each panel using a Delta E rating. Lower numbers are better while 0 is perfect.

We have the Samsung phones surfing the internet over LTE while their screens are set at 150 nits brightness to determine the battery life of a Samsung phone. Our testing revealed that the average smartphone’s battery life lasts 10 hours. The best phones can last up to 11 hours.

Camera testing includes taking photos of each Samsung phone and comparing them with similar shots taken with comparable models.
