Cinephiles will love OLED TVs. They are one of the most popular display types worldwide, displaying movies and shows with excellent contrast, rich colors, off-axis viewing, and perfect black levels.

OLED TV manufacturers like Samsung, Sony, and LG have made significant improvements to their technology over the past year. This year’s OLEDs are brighter than ever.

Although price was a major drawback to buying an OLED TV, you can buy one for as low as $1,000, especially if you are willing to purchase an older model. With 2022’s sets now readily available in stores — including the new Samsung S95BOLED — older models should be more affordable than ever.

How do you pick the best OLED TV? We consider picture and sound quality, as well as the price and smart features. Each set is tested for maximum brightness, color accuracy, color gamut reproduction, and color accuracy. We also watch and use these TVs for hours to provide our expert opinion.

Best OLED TVs in 2022 (short list)

LG G2 OLED The best OLED TV overall:

The LG G2 OLED boasts a 30% brighter display than its predecessor thanks to the use of the most advanced OLED evo panels on the market. You can make the LG G2 OLED one of the best OLED TVs in the world by adding new gaming features and AI-boosted audio quality.

Best value OLED TV: Vizio OLED TV

All OLED TVs used to be prohibitively expensive are gone. The Vizio OLED TV proves that. Regularly, the 55-inch model can be purchased for as low as $1,000 and sometimes even less. OLED is a great choice. We were impressed by the high-quality picture and bass-heavy sound. The Vizio SmartCast platform, which offers support for AirPlay and Google Cast, also made us impressed.

What are the best OLED TVs?

LG is the only OLED panel manufacturer and offers the largest selection of OLED TVs. There are everything from low-cost entry-level models to premium-priced sets. This list includes multiple LG OLED TVs. One more might be added to our list as LG unveiled the LG Flex TV at IFA.

LG isn’t the only OLED TV manufacturer. Other OLED TVs from Vizio and Sony also make the list. The Sony Bravia A80JOLED TV was one of our top picks for 2021. It features next-generation smart functions, some of the most impressive performance and really outstanding audio. The Vizio OLED TV, on the other hand, is one of the best-selling OLED TVs ever made and offers incredible value.

Don’t forget the Samsung S95BOLED, Samsung’s latest QD-OLED model. It promises superior color, brightness and contrast in one package. Although it is more expensive than some other models, we will not soon see cheaper OLED TVs by Samsung. This is because was unable to make a deal with LG Display.

LG’s premium G series OLED TVs are now available in 2022. It’s amazing. The LG G2 OLED is a vast improvement on the G1 last year. Although brightness has been an issue with OLEDs for a while, the LG G2 OLED reached 590.54 nuits in our testing. This is a significant improvement over the G1’s 412.05 nits, although not as high as the Sony A80J’s 713.65 result. We were impressed by its brightness, but that’s just one aspect of the performance. Color accuracy, color gamut, and lag times also performed well in our testing. OLED delivers the rich blacks you’ve come to love.

It is one of LG’s Gallery TVs. The design is stunning with a minimalistic silver frame giving it almost no bezels. The TV is also equipped with many ports and sounds far better than any OLED. It offers a fully-featured smart TV platform that will satisfy most households without being exceptional. While the LG C2 may be a better buy for most people, it is still the best OLED TV available.

-LG’s WebOS has some missing apps. The sound quality is good after some tweaking

The LG C1 OLED TV is of great value. It features an OLED display, full HDMI 2.1 ports, as well as the best gaming performance and features. The display delivers rich picture quality, excellent contrast and sharpness, superior HDR support, and gaming performance that is unmatched by anything else. This TV is a masterpiece of design and sound.

LG’s web OS is facing stiffer competition in app selection and features. However, smart options like Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa voice advisors, AI-driven sport alerts and gaming features such as the game optimizer menu, support for Google Stadia, Nvidia GeForce Cloud, and support for games like the game optimizer menu keep it in the mix to be one of the top smart TVs. It is a great TV that delivers exceptional quality and solid value for its premium price. This makes it one of our top picks in 2021.

LG’s successor, the LG-C2 OLED, has been announced by LG. This was one of many new LG2022 TV models that were announced this year. We know it will be available in a 42-inch model, making it the most compact OLED TV. We’ll also review it soon.

+Outstanding audio quality and picture quality+Lots smart and dynamic features that actually work+Powerful Google TV interface

Avoidable reasons

-Dynamic adjustments are required for best picture. Not all HDMI ports support HDMI 2.0-Bravia Core streaming service does not dazzle

The Sony Bravia XR A80J is a great choice if you are looking for high-quality and next-generation capabilities. This 4K OLED is packed full of futuristic technologies, including HDR, a 120Hz refresh rate and ATSC 3.0 tuner. You can also stream TV from Google TV, YouTube streaming, Bravia Core, Acoustic Surface Audio+, and more. While not everyone will require everything, it is nice to have the option.

It excels in the basics, too. We tested it and found it to be excellent at contrast, colors, and viewing angles. Also, it can handle upscaling. The sound quality is excellent, and Google TV is a major upgrade to the older Android TV. The XR A80J needs some tweaking to look its best. It’s fine right out of the box but you will need to experiment with different modes to get the most out of it.

We should also see great savings on this all-rounder, thanks to the A80K’s launch alongside the rest Sony 2022 TVs.

4. Vizio OLED TV

The best OLED TV price

Specifications

Available Screen Sizes: 55 and 65 inches

OLED Screen Type

Refresh Rate: 120Hz

Low price OLED+ Strong picture and sound quality+SmartCast offers many smart features

Avoidable reasons

Gaming performance could be improved-Cumbersome stand

Vizio’s OLED TV debut is a significant step forward for the budget TV manufacturer, but also a huge leap for OLED TVs that are affordable. Although the 55-inch model was launched at $1,299, it is regularly available at a lower price than the $1,000 mark and delivers all the OLED quality you would expect. The Vizio OLED offers premium picture quality at a fraction of the cost of comparable models. It also has a great sound system with better-than-average bass.

Vizio SmartCast is also poised to be a solid smart TV platform. It has a wider app selection, and integrated support for AirPlay 2 and Google Cast 2. It is one of the top 4K TV value of 2021 and the easiest choice for OLED TVs at an affordable price.

5. LG G1 OLED

Amazing design is also a hallmark of OLED home theaters.

Specifications

Available Screen Sizes: 55-65 and 77 inches

Screen Type: OLED

Refresh Rate: 120Hz

HDMI ports: 4 HDMI 2.1

Size: 56.9×32.7×0.9 inches

Weight: 63.9 pounds

+Exclusive OLED panel with brighter image+Benefits of last year’s Gallery Series+Same thin design+New remote are major improvements

Avoidable reasons

-OLED EVO offers little improvement-WebOS 6.0 is disappointing

The LG G1 OLED TV is a premium, thin 20mm design that can be wall-mounted. The LG G1 OLED TV is the most powerful 4K OLED TV, but the difference in price between it and its counterpart the C1 makes it less appealing.

The LG G1 OLED remains a great OLED set. LG has also reduced the price and updated almost every aspect of the TV. The new LG G1 OLED has a more comfortable remote and enhanced gaming feature. It also runs the latest version webOS. All this while maintaining the excellent picture quality and flawless sound we have come to expect from LG’s OLED TVs. It is a reminder of how far modern TV technology can go. We are excited to test the new G2, which will be available in our testing lab right now.
