Popular Posts

You can use your iPhone with your Mac almost every day. This is why the Apple ecosystem is so seamless and unique.

There are many options for disconnecting your iPhone from a Mac. We’ll cover them all below.

  1. How to Disconnect an iPhone from Finder.

To stop your iPhone not showing up in Finder, disconnect it from the USB cord. If this doesn’t work, you might have configured Finder over Wi-Fi to detect your iOS device.

You can fully eject your iPhone using Mac’s Finder sidebar. Scroll down to Options and uncheck Show my iPhone when connected to Wi-Fi.

If you don’t own a Mac, you have the option to revoke any permissions you gave to connect your iPhone to it. To do this, open the Settings iPhone application and go to General > Reset. You can then tap Reset Privacy.

  1. How to Disconnect an iPhone from a Personal Hotspot

The Personal Hotspot functionality on the iPhone gives your Mac instant access to the internet, without needing another Wi-Fi network. To disconnect, you can click your iPhone on the WiFi menu.

Also, the Mac may not ask you to connect to your iPhone every time. Open the Apple menu, then go to Network Preferences > Wi-Fi. Next, check the box next to ask for Personal Hotspots. You can still join it using the WiFi menu.

You can also prohibit devices (such as a Mac that you don’t have) from joining the Personal Hotspot on your iPhone. Navigate to Settings > Your Personal Hotspot. Turn off the switch next Allow others to join.

  1. How to disconnect Bluetooth pairing between iPhone and Mac

If you have paired your iPhone with a Mac using Bluetooth (which allows you to access a Mac online), you may disconnect both devices by opening the Control Center of the Mac and expanding the Bluetooth controls, then clicking on your iPhone.

You can permanently disengage Bluetooth pairing between these two devices by opening the Apple menu. Select System Preferences then choose Bluetooth. Click the icon that is next to your iPhone. Then, select Remove.

You can also delete the Mac from your iPhone’s Bluetooth device list. To do this, navigate to settings > Bluetooth. Next, tap the Info Icon next to the Mac. Next, tap Toss This Device.

  1. How to Disconnect AirDrop from an iPhone or Mac

To stop your iPhone showing up on your Mac’s AirDrop list, you will need to disable AirDrop. To do this, open the Settings iPhone app and go to General > AirDrop. Next, select Receiving Off. This will stop AirDrop files from being received by the iPhone on other devices.

However, your Mac can be stopped from appearing in AirDrop. Simply open the Finder and choose AirDrop in the sidebar.

AirDrop will not appear if one of the devices isn’t yours. To stop AirDrop appearing, set AirDrop to Contacts ONLY and remove any contact information from the Contacts App.

  1. How to stop iCloud sync between iPhone and Mac

Open the Apple Menu and select System Preferences> Apple ID to disable your Mac’s ability to sync features and data with your iPhone or other Apple devices. Next, uncheck the boxes beside the services that you don’t need: Photo, Calls and Calendar.

You can also prevent your iPhone from syncing data with your Mac (and other devices that are linked to your Apple ID). To do this, open the Setting app. Next, go to Apple ID> iCloud. Turn off the switches for the services that you wish to disable.

  1. How to disconnect the Handoff between iPhone and Mac

Handoff can be extremely useful when you want to continue your activity on the iPhone to Mac or vice versa. The Dock can also be distracting.

You can disable Handoff from your Mac by going to System Preferences> General. Check the box next Allow handoff between this Mac & your iCloud devices. Keep in mind, however, that Handoff can also be disabled between the iPhone and Mac.

If you want to continue using Handoff on your Mac but don’t want the prompts to come up again, open the Settings iOS app and select General > AirPlay. Next, disable the switch next Handoff.
