8 Ways to Fix iPhone Voicemail Not Working

Popular Posts

You could be missing important messages if your voicemail doesn’t work. You can’t tell if a call is important because of the number of spam calls. Instead, send it to voicemail.

There are several things you can do if your iPhone isn’t receiving voicemails. These fixes should fix your iPhone’s voicemail and ensure that you don’t miss any messages in the future.

1. Clear Your Voicemail Box

Sometimes voicemails will stop being received if the Voicemail mailbox is full. Modern iPhones are spacious and have lots of storage. However, voicemail storage can quickly fill up. This is especially true if you receive a lot spam calls.

To delete voicemails that you have already deleted and to make more space, open the Phone application and tap Voicemail. Tap Edit at the top-right corner to select the voicemails that you wish to delete. Once you have selected the voicemails, tap to delete at the bottom right-hand side. If you have an issue, this will clear up space.

2. Make sure to check for an update on your carrier settings

This is something that not many people know about, but sometimes your carrier settings need to be updated. Although this is not often, it can be a sign that your carrier settings need to be updated. This also means that you won’t receive voicemails from your iPhone.

It is simple to update your carrier settings. To view your carrier settings, go to Settings > > More. You’ll be able to download a carrier update if your carrier requests one. You’ll only see your carrier information if you don’t want to update it.

3. Turn Cellular Service On and Off

Sometimes, a quick reset can help fix voicemail problems. This is especially true when voicemails don’t download fast enough. This can be indicated by receiving a notification voicemail hours after you receive a missed call from the same phone number. This issue can be resolved by turning off your cellular service again.

This can be done by either turning off your phone and then on again or switching your phone to airplane mode. You can then check if your voicemail works again by calling another phone. This will solve the problem if you have received a voicemail.

4. You must ensure that your cell phone data is available

In most cases, voicemails can only be received using cell data. Voicemail is a carrier feature. Connecting to data will ensure that voicemails are delivered. Visual Voicemail also requires cell data. This is where you can listen to a voicemail and read it.

You can enable your voicemail to fix the problem if it isn’t working or you don’t have data. To turn it on, go to Settings> Cellular. Tap Cellular Data. You can reduce the data consumption while still receiving voicemails

5. Allow Wi-Fi calling

Poor connections can mean that voicemails take a while to download to your phone. Poor connections can cause missed calls notifications to your device without your phone ringing. You can fix this problem by turning Wi-Fi calling enabled on your phone. You will have a faster connection and voicemails will download quicker. This also improves audio quality and decreases dropped calls.

To enable Wi-Fi calling, go to Settings > Telephone > WI-Fi Calling. To turn it on, tap Wi Fi Calling on This iPhone. This will allow Wi-Fi calling to be enabled whenever you are connected to Wi Fi. It’s free so it’s worthwhile.

6. Call forwarding must be off

If Call Forwarding is enabled, this means that your calls are being routed to a different number. It is disabled by default but can be enabled accidentally if you play around with the settings. It’s why you don’t receive voicemails if it’s enabled.

To disable it, go to Settings > Telephone > Call forwarding then tap Disable. Call forwarding is not available on all carriers. It is possible to not see Call Forwarding in your Phone Settings. This could be because your carrier has disabled it.

7. Reset Network Settings

Resetting your network settings may be able to fix the problem if the iPhone’s voicemail is still not working after all the fixes. If you are experiencing other problems with your network such as missed calls or problems with mobile data, this may be a good option.

For Network Settings Reset, go to Settings > General > Transfer iPhone or Reset iPhone > Reset > Network Settings.

Resetting your Network Settings will not erase any content on your device.

8. Access your Voicemail in an Old-Fashioned Way

Visual Voicemail and your phone app are fantastic, but it may not work. If none of the above solutions work and your iPhone’s voicemail doesn’t respond, you may need to go back to the basics.

You can check your voicemail by calling your personal number on your phone. You can do this by dialing your number and then entering your password. Finally, press the pound key. If you don’t know your password, it is the last four digits on your phone number.

You can also contact your carrier to request a reset of your voicemail password if you are still having trouble accessing your voicemail or if you have voicemail issues. To check for other issues, you can also call them.
